does anyone have any thoughts on how to quite all the gear noise, on 66 series tractor s w rops?

I ve heard a few, install rubber balls in tubes,  spray foam,  and windshield washer fluid,  to dull the noise, anyone ever done it or seen it ?   thanks

I have a ROPS on my 966....no canopy, though. I don't have a problem with extra noise, but I've heard of putting rubber belting under the mounts, or filling the uprights with dried sand.

Earmuffs work well and are pretty cheap and even have a radio.

Line the underside of the canopy with HushMat or a similar sound deadening product.

What does "s w rops" mean? Specifically the "s w" part?

Bet he meant "ih tractors w rops" not "ih tractor s w rops". 

Sound deadener on the underside of the canopy, sand in the upright portions, and rubber where the ROPS mounts to the axle are the tricks I've heard. Never heard about using windshield washer fluid.

it won't freeze,  there is rubber under canopy  arms,  nothing in tubes yet

Ear plugs, ear muffs.  When I redo mine I am going to try some bedliner on the underneath surface.

Take the top skin off and take that to the Rhino liner guys

Should have a light color or white that will make a big difference 

We put lead shot in a couple , but they were the 2 post type -- tho should work on your 4 poster

I've seen them with std cab upholstery underneath.

My 1486 4 post ROPS is so much quieter than my 1066 two post ROPS.  I expect it's the ISO Mounts.

Be careful putting rubber in the ROPS mount.  It might weaken the connection to the tractor.  They are used for shade but designed for safety.

You might also look at the fenders - on my 666, the fenders bolted to the ROPS "rattle" way more than when they are rubber mounted to the axle.

Think about 1 thing - why should a ROPS frame be any noisier than a CAB frame??  IME, the problem is that tin roof reflecting every last little rattle down into your ears.   Get that covered with a good thick sound absorbing material and you will see a huge difference.

Problem is the 66 series ROPS are solid mounted, steel on steel to the rear axles.  My 1486 4 post ROPS is on cab mounts, same as the std cab.  Makes it much quieter IMHO.

if you do not , then the ROPS is just a sun shade
