I even had a set of small wire ones I would put in for wheat. Only takes minutes to switch out, I even took the time to change vane settings between crops. Quote

Works great in corn, not so good in beans UNLESS you put filler plates on the front two spaces, then they work good. Filler plates are easier to pull than changing the whole concave. 1688 with 20' heads. 45-50 bushel beans, 150-175 corn, I've got way more combine than I need, but it was cheap and super clean. Quote

Round bars worked good with green stem beans when using spike rasp bars at the front of the rotor usually 4 bars. But I'm guessing you have the old style rotor. Unless an aftermarket company makes some kind of spiked old style bar Quote

Drysleeves Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 The specialty rotor was a compromise solution for tough beans but could still process corn. Round bar concave section helps send the kernels into the auger bed and is more gentle with the aggressive nature of the segmented rasp bars of the specialty rotor. In my opinion the best rotor for corn is still the original style standard rotor because it will not crack kernels like the segmented rasp bar rotors. Obviously green stem beans and waterway grass clipped as you harvest the beans cause excessive roping with a standard rotor. Quote
superih Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 Majority of corn threshing is done in the first one and a half concaves. Pull every other wire in the first concave to get the corn out of the rotor fast, let the second two concave finish any tough thrashing, then in soybeans run cover plates on the first concave. Quote
