If you plug the top hose into the thermostat, I would worry about it opening and then trying to circulate the radiator coolant too. What usually works better is hooking lower hose up to the block drain, then putting a tee where the temp sender goes, then hooking the upper block heater hose to one side and the temp gauge to the other. That way you don't have to worry about the thermostat accidentally opening.

Did you pass? What were they looking for on the test?

A coolant heater might be easier and cheaper to install.

You could also try windshield washer fluid, might take a few 55 gallon drums though 😄

Keep in mind though that the gas start diesels were designed for fuel economy, not pulling power. IH's campaign with those tractors was to do the same amount of work, but at half the cost.

I would like a 450 diesel someday. But I don't know if I would actually use it to farm daily (as a heavy use tractor). Would like it mainly for hayrides, maybe some other work too.

Broughams are the "Platinum" edition of the cabovers. Premium interior and all the regular options, were standard on a Brougham I think. Speaking of Lazy WP's post, has anybody driven one of those cabovers with Jake brakes? If so what engine and trim package?
