Dave Downs Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 One of the dogs found this thing in the front yard this morning. Don’t know what it is but it sure is creepy. I’m in SE Pennsylvania. Quote

Dirt_Floor_Poor Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 Here it is known as a tobacco worm. Other places call it a tomato caterpillar. I spent years of my life spraying them in tobacco. They get about the size of a man’s index finger. Quote

Or tobacco plants, common pest, that worm can create a lot of damage to a tobacco leaf over-night. Totally harmless to humans, except for eating crop. That horn worm showed up on some tobacco we planted in my garden here in TEXAS. During daylight they hide on the earth side of the leaves, and their poop balls show up on the ground under the plants, but large holes in leaves will also be apparent, some farmers would try to pass worm feeding on leaves as hail damage when they carried Government hail coverage. We had two ducks, and they were funny to watch, but i swear, every 10 steps they crap. I'll admit cow pies are larger, but my cows don't usually graze in the yard, but when they do,i would trade an angry wife for some ducks! 4 Quote

I have one with IBS or something, she seems to hold it all night, she comes out gets a drink and when she dips into the water and blows a pint of pure liquid out. They are fun to watch and we don’t have lots of slugs or any other kinds of crawling pests around. Quote
