Dad had one of them back in about 1979. Made decent hay, but the stack mover was a joke. Only 3 chains.

My grandfather used this system with hanging up the grass to dry as well back in the day, was done when the weather was not sure if it wanted to rain or not and this way one was able to make dry hay! The system is used in Sweden still today, but was used in Switzerland, Austria and also in Germany. using wooden blanks was easier to set up then using wire.

Well, that was different. Never seen anything quite like that to be honest. I've also never had a desire to travel any further east than the Mississippi river, but for some reason I now want to go to Sweden. Reckon those folks need any help? 🤣

When we drive out to well fields. There is a farm we turn at. Amongst a lot of other stuff the metal shed part of the stacker is setting on the ground out there. Maybe when snow goes away the rest of stuff will show up.

What is that tractor that shows up at the 02:00 minute mark? It looks like a Ford "County", except for the color, fenders, and grille...

If you search Mckee tractor, you'll come up with an "EBRO" with that same style.  Ebro was made in Spain under license from Ford, so that would explain the resemblance to County.  I'd guess it was an import that Mckee sold or was considering selling. 

I love this thread and the machines shown.  I'd love to get ahold of one of those older pull type self loading forage wagons.  In another forum someone offered me a rebuildable skeleton of one for a case of beer, but the distance was too far. 

I use a Hesston Stakhand 10 and a hay trolley system to put up some hay.  Lots of stakhands here in WI, they use them for cornstalks.  Each load is brought back to the bank barn and unloaded.  After 3-4 loads, it's hoisted over to the pile to clear the alley for the next loads.  Dusty and power hungry compared to a forage wagon like these, but it gets the fine grass and leaf pieces.  A grapple can get a stack in 2-3 loads, the stacks are too tight for a harpoon and I try to make fine hay, not the long stemmy timothy style that would work with a harpoon.

CLAAS is discontinuing there Self Loading and insilage wagon lines this year ending a over 53 year history they think they can make more money with only choppers

we are at a pause on making loose hay

blew a back tire on cherry this afternoon [IH--M]

ended up rolling it off the rim limping it back to the shop

so its wrestling tires week next week 

the chopper is working great,, got about 7 ton put up of first cutting

if the weather holds it looks like a second cutting this year

getting a good rain every 4-5 days

ya'r talking about silage not hay 😜

no we chop dried Hay and blow it into hay stacks & hay mow

the pigs can handle the short cut hay better than the long stuff

tried fermenting Hay and ended up with 2 piles of spoiled Hay
