DirtBoyz07 Posted June 29 Posted June 29 Well a year and half ago I got an idea to build a tractor Hinsdale did back in 1969 . The engine group came up with a new design motor / DT 414 and they installed it in a 1256 replacing the DT407 . It’s been a little bit of a project but it’s together and made its trip out to Red Power and it was a big hit with everyone . It’s going into the pulling department here , I built it for the Altered Farm Class , open RPMs , no speed limit all the normal safety stuff going on it , should be fun . I still have the 1086 narrow front / open station and it had to get put back in the class I originally built it for the 12 mph class . Danny 17 1 Quote
brahamfireman Posted June 29 Posted June 29 I see you lengthened the frame like IH did, what did IH do for the hood? Custom lengthened hood? Quote
dale560 Posted June 29 Posted June 29 Looked it over a bit on Thursday afternoon. Should have said Hi. Looked nice and I get you are trying to do what hinsdale did with the first tractor put together until they could make longer rails and such. keep the IH history alive. Quote
ChrisNY Posted June 29 Posted June 29 Awesome! Great job Danny! Thank you for keeping the heritage alive. Quote
Cool1566 Posted June 29 Posted June 29 Once again Danny delivers! Really neat project! Are the tags original or reproduced? Really cool! 1 Quote
Powered by IH Posted June 29 Posted June 29 Saw it, nice job! Is it the original prototype motor or a regular DT-414 mocked up like it? Quote
DirtBoyz07 Posted June 29 Author Posted June 29 The hood needs to be a 1456 or 1026 because there 2” longer along with the white panel . The front pulley will be rubbing on the steering bolster that’s why it had to go forward . I made the side frame 2” longer because that’s what the hood is but I didn’t have the hood yet , well I had to egg shape some holes in the hoods and slide all them a bit to make it work for the show . I am splitting it to do engine stress testing so I will have ti shorten the side frames a little 😳 measure twice and cut once !!! Slow down I’m in an hurry 😳 I actually build a 466 not a 414 for this tractor because what I am going to use it for .😉 Danny 4 Quote
MAGNUM Posted June 29 Posted June 29 great work danny ! i really like those front tires ! i bet changing the oil filters on that proto dt414 was a pain, no wonder the tilted the oil filter base out. Quote
DirtBoyz07 Posted June 30 Author Posted June 30 I had thought about putting an oil filter base on off a truck motor but I wanted to be able to do a filter change with out removing the base . The sn tags I had remade , they turned out great 👍 Danny 3 1 Quote
