I've seen this tool advertised that's able to reset the tire pressure sensor on a vehicles wheels, has anyone tried one and do they work?

If your talking the ones to relearn where the wheels are after a tire rotation, yes they work.

N.E. is correct they do nothing for programming a new sensor in a wheel. Also not all brands of sensors will work with all brands of programmers. So do your research if that's what your after. I've seen sensors on rock auto that I think, but am not sure, are pre programmed for your vehicle.

I bought one from Autel for a couple hundred$ that will do about everything for tpms across all brands. They sell generic sensors also, which are not as expensive as some others.

I can still program the TPMS sensors on my 2008 Impala with no tool.

You set it up in the test in the dash and the horn beeps twice.

Go to the LF wheel and let air out of the tire until the horn beeps, then do the same with the RF, RR and LR.

When finished at the LR, the horn beeps twice telling the job is done.

Then fill the fires back to the right pressure.

Each TPMS now knows which wheel it represents and should report correctly, if it is working.

The new stuff probably won't let us idiots do this any more.

PS: The Autel, etc., are faster and easier but higher priced. Or you drive something older without it. Your call!

We have a 2013 Nissan Versa, of course it has the tire pressure sensors, after every cold spell I have to crank up the garage compressor and put the air back in, it has to be 32.5 PSI (good sensitivity) or the idiot light comes on, it has no map to show which tire is the issue. Our 93 K2500 Suburban has no tire pressure monitors, one less idiot light.  BUT I think air pressure monitors could be helpful in the hauling trailers, especially if they it had a pressure map. Last time out on the loaded tractor hauler on a hot Texas day I had a blowout on a 4 tire trailer, possibly could have warned me  and saved a lot of sweat!! .

I just bought a Thinkscan 689bt for less than $500. Bidirectional, does a crap load, free updates. I only have two vehicles that are obd 1 or less. Home mechanic kinda needs one.

2018 fusion can still be done that way. But a $14 tool from Amazon is quicker and a bit easier.
