Fuel Bowls do they make one that does not LEAK !!!

The original fuel bowl on the 79 Farmall 140 has been seeping for the last year and I have repacked it a few times and it will last a while but then go back to leaking. I guess 46 years old its time to replace. Does anyone make a Quality bowl ? anyone know of a brand or place that has a quality USA made bowl ?

I haven't found one... I'll be interested to see if anyone else has a good suggestion.

if leaking around shut off stem i use plumbers string to reseal never had one leak after that. if leaking between glass bowl and body it could be warped. most likely from over tightening. with patienance they can be straightened. also throw away the rubber gasket and find a cork one.

Goto watch out for cheap ones with a plastic bowl. I replaced one with a plastic bowl on a 350 I was working on. Got it from Steiners. Had a glass bowl. I was happy with it.

You can also use about 4 layers of Tef tape
hold one end and twirl the other to make a string

this works good for a packing 

if the bowl metal is warped
you can use a small hammer on a block to tap the pot metal back in shape
pot metal can be worked with small vibrations 

anytime one needs to tweak down on the retainer nut
the gasket already needs replaced
and the metal part may be warped

try the glass without the gasket and see if the glass sits "flat"

We got a fuel bowl assembly from Riley Tractor Parts for another color tractor, have`nt had any problem so far.

I’ve had bad luck with the EBay/Tractor supply ones leaking, I can usually get them to seal with a thick cork gasket and some Fuel Lube, but the valve packings are a pain 

I pulled one apart and found some casting trash, cleaned it up, lubed, and reassembled, it lasted for about a year lol 

I found a factory one a 460 I use now

Would someone provide some pics or videos of the methods you use to fix these leaks?

I took the bowl off my 140 to clean it out and it's leaked ever since.  Put a new screen and gasket in.  Didn't leak before.  Valve don't shut off either.  Maybe the valve stem is leaking?  IDK.  It's frustrating.

Install a ball valve lol

 

but seriously I get some thick cork, trim to fit with scissors and a sharp razor blade, slather with fuel lube and then usually good to go

The valve stem is a pain, you might try pulling it and cleaning it/building a new packing, I want to say I cut one out of leather but I’m not positive about that
