Started this jeep project recently, thought I’d share.

This is my father’s 1959 jeep cj5. When he was in high school he swapped the Buick V6 into it and a Chevy s10 4 wheel drive system. It was parked in 98 because of a ticking noise inside the engine. He never had any time to fix it, so I thought I would. By the way, he doesn’t live on this property anymore, so I was going to make it a surprise for him!

My first Jeep was a 63' with a Buick 225. It was fun.

The Buick 215 aluminum V8 got sold to Rover/British Leyland and ended up in lots of British cars of the '70s =/-. I think Jeep used a V6 version for a while.

225 v6 was a 300 v8 that got the rear two cylinders lopped off.

 I believe that the modern V6 in the Buicks today owes its heritage to the 225.

I see a solid front axle. Maybe it's a transmission/t-case from an S10?

Sorry for the late response. My previous bad health decisions caught up with me. The S10 4wd came from my grandfathers s10 that got t-boned at an intersection. Therefore, I don’t know if there was a difference, the jeep was originally a 2wd

Hot water pressure wash would be a good start. Put the valve covers etc., back on and make a clean start. 

I thought only the postal Jeeps were 2WD. Like others have said: take us along for the ride!
