806 Gas

OK boys, be gentile.

 

I have my 93 yr old father in law's 806 gas tractor. It has been sitting 2 years. Had water in the cylinders and a little stuck. I have a witches brew in the  cylinder soaking. Is there a way to lock the TA to allow me to rock the tractor to see if it will break loose?

Have to have hydraulic pressure for TA to do what you want. Take the inspection plate off on right side of TA housing where flywheel is located. Use a bar with a flat end on it and pry on the flywheel ring gear. You have good leverage there.

X2 on using a bar and pry on flywheel ring gear. If you get it go rock some make sure you rock it both ways.

Drop the oil pan. on the stuck cylinders where the liquid is not going down get a CO2 fire extinguisher then carefully shoot a few short bursts to the bottom of the stuck pistons. that will shrink them but BE CAREFUL its super cold and ive done this a few times and that piston will stay frosty for about 20 minutes or more but it really works. you could also pour hot water into the block to expand it.

fire extinguishers are expensive and 1 use until $2x service and some contain ....soda?

would another form of CO2 work or even dry ice?

They sell a  can of liquid Nitrogen here at the local parts store to freeze things and break it free, you could try that?

Yes anything that's super cooled will work......just be careful then pry on the flywheel.

Thanks to all. Nothing succeeds like success.

I took the pan off and un-buttoned the rod caps except 1 until it was free. Then worked down the line, working off the ring gear. Got the last 1 free tonight. Now need to decide how deep to dig with it.

Now that the engine can be turned over, I cleaned the top of one of the piston. It revealed a number " z 14    .060",  Does that mean it has. 060 over piston? Meaning it has been bored over before?

Can the block be bored over and sleeved?

yes it can be sleeved back to standard. looks like you are already .060 oversize.

Will a D 361 diesel, be a direct swap for this C301 gasser?

Yeah, 806s were D361 in their Diesel versions.

as in fits...? a lot of other parts to bolt and make it run
