Vanstractors Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 Looking to upgrade from an 885 to a Farmall 95 any good bad or whatever opinions ?Just need good med size loader chore tractor
Sledgehammer Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 I have no experience with an 885 but my Father purchased a Farmall 95 in 08'. He uses it for moving and putting out hay for the cattle. It has been a good loader tractor for what we use it for. It doesn't get hundreds of hours a year but does get run through its paces in the winter trying to get hay put out.
TroyDairy Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 Smoker1 has one. PM him about it. They are pretty light. Neighbor has a 110 and it is a bit crude build quality in my eye. Your 885 is prob heavier. I'd personally look for a MX100-MX135 CIH mfd if my farm and wanting red paint. Happy searching

Ken Ryan Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 I just bought a Farmall 100 C with loader. I love that combination. Ken Ryan
SMOKER 1 Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 I have a 2010 Farmall 95 and 740 loader. Great little tractor for ease of operation and fun to drive, but that is where it ends. Very poor engineering and assembly. Mine has 5xx hours and has been in the shop more than the farm. Started on day one when the dealer put the radio in and it blew the speakers when turned on first time. Next was outside fuse box that was eaten up by sea salt on the boat over from turkey. Then the power kept blowing fuses between the fuse boxes( why on earth does it have 2 fuse boxes ???). Turned out on assembly, they laid the wire on the floor across the cab and threw the mat in and it wore the insulation off. Wish it would have shorted and burnt it up! Had to put a clutch in at 4xx hours because a cotter key was left out and a finger from the pressure plate dropped and destroyed every thing in it's way. Before that the condensation from the hot engine on a zero day built up in housing ahead of transmission and froze over night and the next time it started it ripped the front tranny seal and dumped all the oil out. Oops, they forgot to put a drain hole in the bottom of that housing, not just on mine but all of them. Most of the idiot lights on the dash have never worked. You have to turn on at least 4 switches to get all the lights to work. The wiper works for about 10 minutes then quits and we can't find out why. It is almost impossible to service or do anything under the hood without removing the loader. Dealers don't stock filters and wix doesn't make them. The 730 loader wouldn't pick up a pro box of beans so we updated the cylinders to a 740. It has 2 oil drain plugs because the front drive shaft splits the oil pan. IMO, it is a pile of junk and if they weren't so expensive, for how I use it, it would get replaced with a green one. I have a buddy that has the new Holland version of the 95 and my brother also has a 95 and they have had the same problems as me. Most everything was covered under warrantee except for the clutch job, which was nearly five grand. Every time we get in it, we wonder what will be next??? My advice to you would be to walk away from it while you can still smile. Also had to but s strap on the rear window to keep it from opening all the way and breaking the hinge and shattering the glass. That happened last winter. One consultation , the heater and air work great!! jerry
SMOKER 1 Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 forgot one more problem. The brakes never held and would stop but the pedal would go all the way to the floor. They just came out with bendix parts to replace the Chinese $hit, now it it fine. jerry
