if you are chopping brush -- there are mulchers for that job wont get those tire poking stickups with a mulcher
-
LoL -- you gonna have to tell us what the problem is does the gear box turn the cable or not ? -- gears strip out -- the square part wears out -- cable breaks -- tach locks up -- etc Remove the cable from the tach head and start the engine -- is the cable rotating ?
-
Fairly "straight" path from the head unit to the tach drive just kinda drapes along side of the engine block -- no short bends , and keep away from the manifold
-
Clean the filter screen - and replace the filter element fill the "can" with oil before installing Remove the suction hose and pour oil in the pump side of things -- just to give the pump a head start Remove / loosen the pump outlet hose to let air out Put the suction hose back on Crank the engine , and be ready to tighten the pump line -- or shut the engine off The old tractor is a little finicky to prime if the pump is worn but can be done
-
Shaft will rotate about 1/4 turn -- then you hear the brake make contact with it's anchor However -- this will not affect the calibration -- Hmm, after I said this - the shaft may need to be stopped to get the sequence to complete would be a code indicating this failure tho
-
Original bolts are probably "better" than any you will get now days I have never ever put new bolts in one of those engines seen a few rod bolts back out -- but none broken -- and they back out because the "mechanic" didnt tap the rod cap with a hammer as the bolts are tightened -- so the cap was "cocked" -- then loosened after the engine was running
-
Alternator and solenoid -- you will need to run the calibration Clear the codes and see if any new codes pop -- Turning with nothing connected = brake is bad or the clutch pack is binding/warped -- if this has been on a mower a lot -- the brake may just be burned out -- can you rotate the shaft with the engine off , more than 3/4 turn ?

Had a customer that put a 283 Chevy engine in one Also had a H or Super H setup the same way Both were in our shop a few times over the years
-
454 would have the metallic clutch disk -- those usually will not "stick" 2300 possible could have an organic lining on the clutch disk -- those will stick with moisture
-
Snap a picture of that pump -- we don't need to be guessing -- Original setup , fuel flows to the rear filter from the tank -- need to know there is good flow -- spin that filter off and prove the flow -- dont use the shutoff at this time Original setup - the second filter got fuel thru the transfer pump -- there are check valves in the transfer pump -- and in the primer housing -- fuel does not "flow" to the front filter -- it has to be pumped
-
Yup baler twine here What is this thing - zip tie ? definitely not a Farmer thing
-
True that ... the gear will bind in the front cover and break the cover turn the engine to where you intend to leave it before removing the pump @Cody IH I searched for a puller , but all I see is the 2 hole version for dodge trucks -- I suppose you could drill the other 2 holes to make it a 3 hole pattern The puller I have is from OTC and has bots sets of holes -- but easy enough just to make a puller

All of the oil is in a common reservoir on that tractor -- the oil in the Hydro is held to a higher level than the rest of the oil by way of baffle and pumps -- that is why the oil level is checked with the engine running your information is incorrect or misinterpreted -

Naa -- hang around you are valuable to this community I have a box full of "brass" that I have collected over the years never know when one may come in handy for a project made plenty of bushings from old brass fittings -
one of the Doncaster design utility tractors -- x74 - x84 - x95 - Etc

Fuel wont stop pouring out of injector pump

The original fitting has the check behind the orifice plate I have a couple laying around here First one I came across -- this one is intact the line fitting is there to show the large hole The update fitting has the orifice in the line fitting -- and just a plain elbow -- if the guts are already out of the original fitting -- I have re-used the elbow with the new orifice line fitting -- waste not - want not -

Yes , since your tank stand pipe is missing original pump fitting had a check valve with orifice need to determine if that has been removed - or is laying in the throttle box of the pump -- if previously removed -- but not the fitting then not so much of a problem but fuel would flow back thru the gutted fitting to the front filter -

Changing the oil soon also ?? that nasty oil will damage the Hydro -- if not already -
5088 tractor wont run on lower fuel tank
HydroTek replied to Minnesota Farmer's topic in Technical IH Talk
Have had that also -- the rust worms got the pickup tube There is a square "oring" on the pump plunger -- and a regular oring under the plunger handle -- this one seals when the handle is snugged for storage The whole pump threads out then you unscrew the handle from the stem 1802465C1 square ring 9672467 oring -

Usually the guts from the fitting get into the injection pump throttle box , and block the throttle from opening up -- I have had two that the parts got under the throttle with catastrophic results -- that is 2 out of couple hundred, so pretty rare -- if the guts are gone from the elbow fitting You remove the small cover on the side of the pump -- then remove the lock wire and 2 screws -- dont drop the spacer bushings -- pull the throttle actuator out -- and look inside for the lost guts -
Bottom pic is for Pioneer couplers Top is the IH coupler -- I see one of the levers is missing ?
-
Yes , you can put 2 handles on that valve just take all of that linkage off handle kit from Surplus Center for Gresen valve -- or Cross should work

Fuel wont stop pouring out of injector pump

would be easy enough to add a stand pipe to the return fitting 5/16 steel brake line would do fine -- brass it to the fitting More concerned that the original return fitting is at the pump those liked t puke the guts Also hard hose from the filter to the pump ?? -
I have 5 or 6 of those tanks at the other farm -- if I get a chance can take a measurement
