Vehicle fitment by part number.

I made a mistake and ordered the wrong brake rotors for the van, i got them all on and found out they were too deep. The part number matches the truck, but there were 2 choices. I now have new coated rotors I can’t return, is it possible to look up vehicle fitment by the part number I have? It’s easy enough the other way around.

What's the brand name and part number?

I have a few tricks and have had good luck.

I’ll look tomorrow, they’re Napa, I don’t remember what product line, but coated. It just seems like If i can put in the vehicle and see all the different part numbers that fit it, i ought to be able to put in the part number and figure out what vehicles match with it…. Just doesn’t seem to work that way.

Do they even make non coated  anymore? I feel like even the Economy side of the road used car dealerships are buying lower grade coated parts now

I got the wrong calipers for a platinum or limited  forerunner last year, parts stores, Did not show the difference, but the higher trim truck had bigger bolts to secure the bracket. 
Same thing with my max tow ‘24 F150, rotors are 3-4mm larger in diameter than most, some stores Show an option, most don’t. Rock auto was incorrect as well, Had to take vin to dealer, get ford part number, they didn’t have a set, then Google that number for a cross.   Saved $80 a rotor. 
same thing for the $60 or $80 stretch to fit alternator belt on it.    F150’s everywhere…No dealer had a belt, parts store options were about 6” to short, luckily they were clearly wrong at a glance.  Had to get belt from a ford warehouse

Picture deer in headlight first  .....pause.....How to not have access but available,NLA to them or $200/$5 +$20 7 day ship. Time WAS when you took a truck to bring back the parts shopping $ .

pulled into one at 5:15 friday 9-'92 ,Roll up sidewalk at 5pm berg. 100 miles from next town and 500m trip to warehouse on monday. Rolled out at 5:40 with new combo steering/brake hoses on gm 5.7D

Miss the days of real store,real counter person. every town,no AI and they found it. had it delivered next day for $1

Most mfg sent "the book" or rep had, where parts # crossed in the back.

And listed even when you needed the line set ticket for GM.......yr/model/line -trim color/level,antenna (in glass)then radio type ,-all made a difference to drum size which then referred to correct muffler/pipes on x 454

I never replaced the muffler drums on a 454, but I use to embarrass them to the top of the hill with our 460
