I really wish I could post pictures because I have the dealer sales comparison to competitor tractors and the talking points etc for the 86 series.

I for one don’t mind the JD talk as it helps paint the story. I appreciate everyone perspective and discussion. I’ve not ever used a 40 series JD but I have used a 4430 some and I have driven a 4755. A 4430 doesn't have anything on a 1086. I’m not real sure what real advantage a 4440 would have over a 4430 other than the new and I assume better engine? I’ve not ever used a cabbed AC or Case or Massey tractor so I like hearing about how they compared to the IH. I have ran a white 2-105 and maybe a 2-150 and while they are a nice tractor I’ll take my 986 or 1586 over either one of them.

I’ve said for years a country boy’s first line of defense is his hat lol. That being said when you get in a whole nest that hat ain’t big enough to swat them all.

I don’t think I’ve ever even seen a moose in person. We don’t have those in southern Indiana.

I also have a lot of sales stuff from the 86 series line. Red power demo days instructions to the dealers. Pricing and option lists. How to sell the tractors etc. hopefully one of these days they’ll fix the picture thing as I have intended take pics and post them here for everyone.

If we’re listing 86 series tractors I currently have a 78 986 with 4800 hours, a 77 1086 with I think 5500hrs, a 77 1486 with 7500 hrs that’s stuck and needs a rebuild, and a 79 Red Power 1586. No way of knowing the hours on the 15 as the digital taxi says 1500 lol The 986 is the only one I can currently jump in and use. I’ve had more but I downsized a bit. I really only need about 1 of them lol. And I really need to get what I have fixed and turn key.

My favorite series of tractors. Neighbor dairy farmer had a 986 while I was growing up and I loved that tractor. Was so much nicer and bigger than anything we had. He had whites too a 2-105 and a 2-150 but it was the 986 that I thought was just awesome. His had a M&W turbo added and it was the tractor they chopped corn with using a pull behind NH chopper. That was in the late 80’s early 90’s so that 986 would have been a 10 year old tractor by then but it was I thought the nicest tractor in our part of the county.

I was driving to the farm a few years ago real early in the morning and came over a little crest and a horse stood up from the ditch where I think he may have spent the night. He stepped into the road and I sent every piece of gear I had in the seat to the floor board. I’ve nearly hit a few deer over the years through there but I’d of never thought about a horse being in the road… I called the neighbor who knew the owner and he got put back in the pasture. I know nothing about horses so I wasn’t going to try to mess with him. Neighbors cows I’ve always run back in but I haven’t ever tried to run a horse back in.

And horses don’t text and drive…

That horse is probably smarter than some of the human drivers these days…

I don’t understand but it’s a shame. An absolute shame. is it money do we all need to pitch in? is there not anyone in charge?? We haven’t even had any answers in a while

Not much has changed since my last posting. I still need to fix the 1586, 1086, and the TV140. Just can't ever seem to find the time. I've had a year to think on it and I do need to downsize these tractors. Its been 9 years since I started this thread. I do think I'll keep my 986, even though it frustrates me at times lol. Thanks for reading I don't feel like I've accomplished much with this post but if anyone was wondering now ya know 😂

Not opposed to a husky just always had stihl. Have a 361 and a 390 both with 20” bars and at times a 24 and a little more power would be nice.

So a stihl 462 with a 24” bar is where it’s at huh??

Unload the guns and lock them up if you’re having issues with a loved one and significant mental decline. dementia and Alzheimer’s are awful to watch and have to be awful for the person too. I don’t think there is a right answer here but removing the start or fuel relay will disable most modern cars yet still allow use if needed. Lost my dad 13 years ago and it was rough. My mom took the worst of it and at times enabled it too. I wish you all the best.
