Of course those were the days when a 1586 was a big tractor and now it’s a bush hog or auger tractor… Point is we are spoiled by modern diesels

And furthermore we are all spoiled by modern diesels… These newer 6.6 and 6.7 trucks have so much power it’s ridiculous. i pulled my 1586 and 986 (not at the same time) from my farm to my home and my 6.7 power stroke just hummed over a hill that used to just pull the guts out of trucks. 90 degree curve at the bottom so you start with no speed. I remember always listening as a kid growing up there to any truck pulling a load as motors would scream trying to climb that hill lol.

I had a 95 2500 ext cab 6.5… I love how they sound and the fuel economy was good but that truck spent more time getting worked on than driven. but I do love to hear one run…

Windshield was broken while pushing up the pile with the bucket not the grapple. on another note I am supposed to make dinosaur noises when I pick up sticks like a dinosaur with the grapple??? Not saying I did, but I sure felt dinosaurish

Sealed cab on my bobcat saved my tail last summer with a yellow jacket nest the size of a volley ball I dug into. Sounded like rain on the windshield. I was sure thankful I didn’t have a repeat of the same thing from when I was a kid on an open station bobcat pushing up around the field. 17 stings if I recall right. Made me puke…

I’ve looked at those models for myself. They are about 100 bucks per hp maybe not quite that much but close. I can’t justify the cost for just a hobby tractor.
