Sounds as if you’ve got all the info you need for a decent fix - - but it’s hard to not find an upholstery shop in an Amish community. I’ve had two curtains made that turned out better than new and cheaper than if I made them myself - - one in Windsor, MO and another in Odon, IN. Iowa has plenty of communities to check out.

Who’s keeping a record of stolen tractors?

I’ve purchased a couple dozen PAR 36 4.5” LED lights from Larsen & have had very good use out of them - no failures.

Dry in the south also. Never want to turn down rain but sure makes good working weather. No Wheat since the 80s. Your area grows a fair amount - right?

Just finished the last of our hay yesterday. Beans about 2 weeks away. Corn maybe 2+ weeks - dry weather past two weeks helps a lot. Slight pause will give us a chance to cut about 10,000 board feet of timber. Bedford for us.

Just caught me by surprise & no big deal. I’m in IN also & not yet 40 in our area. Maybe the 40s but not 40. But it’s coming soon enough.

This is my experience with my family’s two Hs & a Super M - - all three purchased new by my grandfather & father & in my custody for past 30+ years. Sediment bowl works great - - clever engineering contraption - - until it doesn’t. At that point it can be hours over days to figure out what went wrong with such a simple system. All the various issues already listed above. Eventually everything comes together & then trouble free again for years. If that’s your experience then stick with it. But I stopped farting with it years ago & went with aviation fuel line & an inline filter along with a shut off valve. Oh, and I threaded it to the tank with a 1” extension into the tank to prevent sucking gunk. Driving up on a neighbor whose glass bowl cracked & poured gasoline on the starter which evidently sparked when cranking over the engine & then reduced his MTA to ashes was my deciding point. I did similarly with the two 6V batteries - - they worked great until they don’t & then a whole list of things to identify “what went wrong.” A single Group 31 now does the starting for us.

Mudfly - you might be onto something for the cause. nate - that’s been my plan up to now. Just haven’t found any yet. brahamfireman - I don’t mind the driving - once drove a 715 combine from Mullen, NE to Beaver, OK & that took all of seven hours (& a little more). Just hard to believe that in a (once?) big farm state like IN that wedge cast centers for a 38” wheel aren’t closer at hand. Thanks all!

Buying a newer cast center is a definite “yes.” I’ve been aggressively hunting for one since I found the 1st crack. Not as easy to find within 200 nm of home as I thought. I’ve never seen one cracked before either, that’s partly why I’m trying to figure out the cause. No desire to have a repeat or catastrophe. Thanks!

I agree with you. Bought the tractor from the estate of an older farmer & his family said he just did a little bush hogging. Being a hydro I didn’t think the rear end would ever be seriously stressed. But a lot happens in 50 years. i don’t know if the 1st spoke was cracked when I purchased it - didn’t notice it. I found the second spoke just a couple weeks ago & all the tractor has done is drive on level ground with no load on it or behind it. Just adjusting the hydro unit. Thanks bitty! - Jonathan

About 6 months ago I posted an issue on our 1026 that it had a crack across ine of the spokes on the right rear cast center. 10 working hours later - easy work - and a second spoke has cracked. What’s going wrong?

My mistake - 3.25” wedge lock cast center is what I need - - it’s for a Hydro 186. I forgot that was one of the differences from a 1086. I’ll check with both Knights & Colfax but since I’ll be driving from Youngstown, Ohio to west of Cincinnati I was hoping to save on shipping. So any leads in Ohio on a 3.25” wedge lock cast center?
