Your calving season is different than mine. I have all calving done no later than April with the early calves in February and the vast majority in March. The late breeders who calve in April are at McDonalds shortly after weaning. Perhaps my thinking is backward but I do not want a four (4) month old calf heading into the sometimes brutal Nebraska / South Dakota winter. My Montana operation is the same, all calving done in the first quarter of the year in order to schedule Spring roundup every year on Memorial Day weekend.

My goodness how time gets away from us. Your beautiful daughters are growing up so rapidly. Hug and keep them close now, it will not be long and all you will be able to do is hug them, and then some other will get in the way of dad and you will be handing him your daughters hand. Beautiful family. Again, never fail to give those daughters plenty of hugs. And get some air in the Nova's front tire in the event the oldest daughter wishes to take her for a test drive.

It will take a period of time for her to adapt to the no tail feeling. Good to hear all going as well as expected.

Great job teaching the little man how to fish. I have a similar picture of my granddaughter on her first fishing expedition. I backed the 20 foot car hauler into the pond outside my back door and on her first cast with her Barbie rod and reel, caught a small blue gill. She was thrilled and done for the day. One was enough!

I too noticed the very small blood splatter and was thankful the bullet was not a through and through and hit the metal siding.

Prayers your way to help ease you pain and assist with the healing process. My wife has three (3) Corgi's and we had to put the elder statesman down last Winter. It took her only a few days to locate a Corgi pup she is now very happy with.

Awesome to me as well. Little fella has to learn sometime so might as well be now. My grandparents owned a 2,000 acre farm in SW Kansas and I spent as much time as possible on the farm during both winter and summer. Spring roundup was always looked forward to. I still remember the groggy eyed kid, still a little nervous about getting wet from the morning dew and dung on the britches until the first calf was roped and the rear legs had to be secured. After the first calf, the britches were wet from the dew on the grass and dung seemed to be everywhere. Hot branding irons and guillotine dehorners, and the smell of burned hide, nuts in the bucket Grandmother would prepare for lunch, that was fun.
