As you can see it is a very different machine to the Mercedes Benz MB Trac tractor. I understand Unimogs are used by the Australian Army, and I am sure by many others. The MB Trac tractor use air for things like brakes, throttle and other functions. This allows for a system they use to turn the seat/steering wheel through 180 dgrees allowing the tractor to be reversed. Quote

Case company, they also acquired the Unimog. At least that is the picture stuck in my mind. These 150hp tractors were mostly used in row cropping in Australia.One advantage was their high road speeds but couldn't compete with Steiger/Versatile/IH/MF four wheel drives as power available increased. Looks to be designed real similar to the Moline Universal Model D. (and I believe A-C made a similar unit??) Will have to learn more about that brand--------anybody more familiar with the Cultor???? I believe it was assembled in Australia (Dandenong) from a kit sent from the States (Fort Wayne) Australia only had the "farm" edition. It was sold as a rival to the British Land-Rover and the Japanese Toyota Land -Cruiser. Farmers and construction companies, not the general public, were the only ones who bought 4WD vehicles in Australia then. Regards from Michael H. Quote

The Australian Scout looks pretty much the same as what IH sold here in the early sixties. I have ads but none scanned.
