1466 3 point arms

Good evening, was going to replace the pins that hold the 3 point arms on, done it before, first time these pins are stuck in there, what are some of the tricks to get them out I did cut one side with thin blade, now arm is off now there is about 1/4 inch of the pin left in the tractor casting, did heat before milking now it will turn a little bit, still have to do the other side, would you weld a big nut and then try to heat the casting up? thanks, it is cat 3

Have always managed by welding big nut. Heat pin not casting, wait a bit, then cold wrench. Same as bolt wiggle instead of torque.

Which pins are you referring to?

The lower pins on the draft control torque tube?

Yeah, sounds like those pins

Rarely do the pins wear out -- usually the bushings in the arm 

Weld a bolt onto the stub long enough to use the outer part of the arm as a "puller" 
-- the welding and cooling will shrink the pin stub
-- then use anti seize on the thing when you go back 

Have drilled the pin thru and put in a grease fitting to push the pin stub out a couple of times 
-- that is a blind hole in the casting -- so grease will force the pin out

Well took all the advice, so today I took a 3/8ths flat bar about 15 inches long. drilled a 1 inch hole in it, fit it over the pin, welded it, left drove around for a while, came back and started tapping the bar, little by ltiile it started to come loose, put a pipe on it and got more leverage and out it came, was going to do a 1 inch nut but for me to reach in and weld it, thought the flat bar would work, thanks

Funny thing is I occasionally have trouble with the bolt backing out and the pin falling out. Not getting stuck.

Same with wide front end tubes.

Have pulled the grease zerk out before and used a 1/4 bolt threaded into zerk. Then attached a slide hammer on it.

I think just half was stuck
