Got to looking over the wide front on my 656.  Pretty evident it had some significant wear.  Both arms are loose on the splines, one bad tie rod at both ends, and one spindle has really loose bushings.  So, I pulled off the WF and installed the original narrow front.  I will experiment some to see if it looks better with 6.50 or 7.50 to go with the 16.9 rears.  The white rim is a good look on this.

My uncle had a 656 Hydro great tractor around barnyard and on snowblower . But horrible in the field and expensive to rebuild hydro.

Been getting water in the fuel tank of this tractor, hence the blue tarp in my pictures.  I left it off the other day, of course,  and a real nasty storm blew through.  Put a whole bunch of water in the tank, again.  Pulled the hood off and found the fuel level gasket blown out, as I suspected.  Replaced the gasket and drained/cleaned the tank.

I would look that tank over really well.  Perhaps a new fuel cap. No doubt, some is leaking at the sender, but...

Seems like an exorbitant amount of water for 1 rainstorm (unless it was inches and inches).

It was a heck of a storm, same one blew through my place that levelled Iowa.

Fuel cap is new, first thing I changed.

What you're seeing in the bowl is fuel and water moving thru fast while I was draining it.  It cleared up after a bit.

We have a 656 Hydro that we bought new. Using it with a finish mower and that hydro is the cats meow. With the narrow front end, just watch if you have it out in the snow. If it accumulates between the tires and freezes, and then you move the tractor, it will break the front spindle since the wheels set at angle to each other. The frozen chunk up above will rotate down around and try to spread the wheels apart, been there.
