I haven't and won't go back and reread this entire post. But I don't remember anyone saying the show SHOULD be on Sunday. If anything people have only pointed out that Saturday isn't really a good day for the spectator many times as so many are starting to leave already. But boy this has apparently gotten your feathers ruffled. Duly noted that you think a show shouldn't happen on a Sunday. 😉

My comment above applies to staff just as it does exhibitors. It wouldn't be anymore days, just a change to the state of mind and being willing to use different days.

I at least do get your point. If the exhibitor takes time off from their job on Wed., Thur., and Fri. or Thur., Fri., and Mon. it's 3 days either way. Just using those days as an example as I realize some need to take more time off. It seems like a good show on Saturday and Sunday would be good at least for more local spectators as they could attend and not need to take time off from their jobs. But I have been an exhibitor and understand it's a commitment of a lot of time and effort. And without the exhibitors it's not a good show. it does seem like for whatever reason most exhibitors do not want to be away from work on the Monday following the show weekend.

I really didn’t want to bale hay on the 4th. Planned to bale after work on Thursday but a little shower ruined that plan. Ended up raking and baling on the 4th. Glad I did as it’s rained a lot today.

Knee high is definitely not accurate any more in my area. Of course we plant a month earlier than we did 30 - 40 years ago. Just starting to tassel here.

Things are growing like crazy this time of year, including the weeds. First planted sweet corn is tasseling. Should have that and tomatoes in a couple weeks. Cucumbers are growing faster than I can pick them. It’s 1 of those things I crave in the winter but don’t know what to do with in the summer.

When in high school I helped a local farmer who had a 656 gas hydro. I cultivated with it some and that is when I really got my liking for the 656 hydro. The narrow front is really handy for a yard tractor. But I would actually prefer a wide front. You find 1 with a good wide front and we can make an exchange on the front ends.🙂

You are much better at making the point. But I was trying to make the same point above. You need to have adequate facilities such as hotels and restaurants to handle such a large gathering. And then the venue needs to be willing to work with the chapter on a bid.

They pick places that make a bid to do it. Don't mean to sound like a smart a**, but if you want it in Hutchinson or Willar get involved in our chapter, find a location that that is capable and willing, and make a bid.

What is GM putting in their 1/2 ton trucks for a diesel? A guy I work with just bought 1 because his brother has had 2 and liked them so much. He has been bragging about the mileage. I haven't take time to research them yet.

We had 2 Honda 4 stroke where I used to work. They worked well but seemed heavier than a comparable 2 stroke. My parents have a Stihl electric as my Mom couldn’t start the gas. Don’t know model but has served them well.

Yes my 13 bought new has the 3.5 and 3.73 gears. Averages about 16 mpg or a little better in normal driving. Not that good when towing but plenty of power and torque. Mine looked that nice at 1 time but getting rusty from our IA winter roads now. Several years ago when cab corners started to show a little rust the local body shop said $2,500/side to replace cab corners and rocker panels. I thought that was a lot and I’d just replace it soon. Should have done it as I’m still driving the 12 year old truck.

I have a 2013 F150 with 165,000. Knock on wood but have had no motor issues. Body is starting to get bad with rusty cab corners and rocker panels. Would like to replace but I’m tight and hate the idea of spending 70k+ on a truck. I usually change my own oil and do it around 3,500 - 4,000 miles. We had a 2018 Explorer and now have a 2020 Expedition with the 3.5 and have been happy with both.

I would definitely go with the 3.5 over the 5.0. As long as you aren't towing over the rated capacity on a regular basis I think you will be very happy with the F150 and 3.5. I replaced a 5.4 with a 3.5 and couldn't believe the improvement in power and ability to tow.

The blades are fairly common in my part of the world. I have this 8' and another 7' that has been restored. My Dad has an iH 8' as well as a Kewanee 8' fast hitch.

I made my 1st jar of refrigerator dill pickles with 2 of my 1st cucumbers. I’ve come up with a dill pickle recipe i and my family really like. But when I can them they don’t stay crisp, so I just make refrigerator pickles and eat them throughout the summer.

I double checked and my No. 11 is 9’. My Dad’s is the same. Mine has the metal teeth rather than rubber mount like you have. Surprisingly to me even the 35 rake was still available as a 4 bar, not sure why anyone would want that. My No. 35 rake has the rubber mounted teeth in a grouping of 3 like you have.

Yes, the No. 12 is newer and from I can see in sales literature appears to be heavier built. I'd like to have 1 in my collection but have never found 1 for sale. I wonder if the 7' or 9' basket was an option? My Dad and I each have a No. 11 fast hitch rake and I believe both are 9'. But I have been wrong about 1mm times before so I guess I should look into that. I've raked behind my 9' disc mower with no issues so I just assume that is correct.

Looks very neat. I have a No. 11 which I think is the same rake just the fast hitch version. I've raked with it behind my 340 and it worked well. When transporting it down the road it seems to really bounce when raised up and the caster wheels are off of the ground.

Off topic of the grass vs. grain debate. But I'm surprised by your hanging weight. Is that whole animal or just a 1/2? Ours are typically 900 lbs.+ carcass weight. Most beef cattle are now 1,400 - 1,600 lbs. I've always figured a yield of about 65% of the live weight. I never weigh my live animals before going into the locker though so not sure what it actually is.
