I posted recently that a guy on my road has a ‘16 or 17 gmc 1500 with a very nice, great looking, body, but the frame has a whole in it, he’s swapping the frame. Bought a new ‘25 or 26, to drive (and then keep too) while he does.  I also know of a crappy dodge “journey” that was deemed junk due to subframe rot, at 6 years of ago.

Had some valve train noise so it got an engine under warrantee. A whole engine. Nothing else could be done? She should have kept the loaner but she didnt like Buicks and the Terrain wasn't noticeably rotted yet. Years later it started clunking and put it up on the lift and discovered the suspension had parted company with the frame.

Wow.   Just got out of a 2012 terrain.  200000 miles very trouble free.  One front wheel bearing/hub, manifold gasket, brakes I think twice.  Bought 2 sets of tires and was ready again.  Frame was rust free. Big difference of living in the salt belt of not I guess.  Engine still ran perfect and was quiet. It had began to use some oil but I still went 5000 miles on change.  We decided we wanted a little larger vehicle so I went with an Acadia this time.  Have zero complaints about the terrain. If I could afford an extra vehicle I would love to still have for simply running around here and quick trips to town.  It was a nice size in parking lots.

That's insane!

You need a vehicle made from corrosion resistant materials like plastic, stainless or something other than steel.

Wood would last longer...
