TeachersPet1066 Posted August 7 Posted August 7 Son wanted a toolbox for his 656 gas hydro. Found one for his upcoming birthday and I notice that tractors with the toolbox don’t have a heat shield. Didn’t realize this and see I will have to remove it. I tried attaching pics but cannot. Quote
Jeff-C-IL Posted August 7 Posted August 7 Pictures - is anyone else not seeing any pictures - not even the User ID pics? They all show "broken" for me! 2 Quote

This made no sense to me . Then finally. Tractor is an I model with underslung exhaust? Toolbox in floorboard? If not please explain. Quote

If not please explain. Row crop. So it did not originally have a toolbox. Found one for him on FB marketplace. When mocking it up there is a heat shield that I had to remove in order for it to bolt up on engine / gas tank base. There is still one heat shield left in place. Here is an example from Internet https://www.machinerypete.com/details/40-99-hp/1966/international-harvester/656/21824316 Quote
FarmerFixEmUp Posted August 8 Posted August 8 There is a heat shield on that one on machinery pete. It's up under the front hood and behind the white Farmall panel and the white one behind it. If I'm seeing it correctly anyway. Kind of dark under there. You mean the toolbox behind the distrubutor right? Quote

FarmerFixEmUp Posted August 8 Posted August 8 I'm not sure I've seen another one there. https://www.messicks.com/catalogs/case/656-farmall-tractor-01-65-12-73/02-fuel-system/e-e-04-fuel-system-fuel-tank-supports-and-piping-farmall-gasoline-engine-tractors Quote

FarmerFixEmUp Posted August 8 Posted August 8 And it's the same toolbox as in the picture? The ones I've seen bolt to the engie block in front. On back to the clutch housing. 34 is way up under the hood. Shields the front top side of tank. Unless a hydro is way different. https://www.messicks.com/catalogs/case/656-farmall-tractor-01-65-12-73/10-operators-platform/m-m-6-a-seat-operator-s-platform-and-miscellaneous-tool-box Hydro 70 toolbox is a little different. https://www.messicks.com/catalogs/case/hydro-70-international-hydrostatic-tractor-01/acce-accessories-attachments-miscellaneous/02-02-02-miscellaneous-tool-box 1 Quote
snoshoe Posted August 8 Posted August 8 I'm guessing 31 is what was removed but I am going to sit this out. Memory to mixed up. Hydro is a different clutch housing but maybe doesn't affect this. Quote
Jeff-C-IL Posted August 8 Posted August 8 Mount that toolbox under the right side of the platform, outside the brakes. Thats where my 666 has one. Out of the way, and does not interfere with the motor stuff. Only issue is you have to walk around the tractor to get the hitch pin. Walking is good for you! I'd attach a pic if I could. Quote
