ny bill o Posted April 16 Posted April 16 Re the Plow Chief discussion a week ago: I was remembering changing wear parts on Dad's Super C Plow Chief plow, that involved changing the point about twice as often as the share and shin piece. This was 50-60 years ago, so maybe or maybe not. Today, I finally remembered to check the P C one bottom plow that came with my Farmall 100. Then tonight, I dug out my "Plow Bottoms IPM-1" manual from the Paper Farmer (thanks Mike) and looked up Plow Chief bottoms. RSPC plow chief bottoms with replaceable shins were built from 1954 to 1970. Just more grist for the mill. 6 Quote
Rainman Posted April 16 Posted April 16 I checked at CIH dealer for new Plow Chief Points ten years ago & they wanted $150 each. Quote
IH Forever Posted April 16 Posted April 16 I'm glad you brought this up....because I was questioning too if some Plow Chief bottoms had replaceable shins. I have a No. 8 2 bottom with Plow Chief bottoms. I know it doesn't have replaceable shins as the moldboards are worn and I'd like to replace them some day. I'm pretty sure the part number is 515712R2 for those moldboards. I haven't had time to check but think I have a couple fast hitch plows with Plow Chief moldboards that do have replaceable shins. 1 Quote
ny bill o Posted April 16 Author Posted April 16 One of my only-used-at-Plow Day 3 bottom trailer plows (Little Genius) had well worn shin ends on the moldboards. The Super Chief shins have the same curve, so I welded some worn S C shins over the worn out L G parts. Works decently well, and the price was right. Quote
drglinski Posted April 17 Posted April 17 My local IH dealer that's been in business since the 30s has no plow chief parts. Last time I checked (last fall) the part number for the point comes back to a loader bucket tooth. Quote
