HydroTek Posted November 15, 2025 Posted November 15, 2025 Some 4140 or even cold rolled about 3/4" thick makes a decent puller plate you want to lathe a step on the plate with a little clearance using the numbers you posted so , 3.720 and 3.925 -- trial fit before you commit to pulling that 3.720 may be too tight with the sleeve in the block -- because of the interference fit the OD just has to slide up thru the block without hitting Then if your puller has a swivel at the bottom cut flats on the plate so it will tilt and drop down thru the sleeve makes getting the puller in place much quicker The puller we have at work has a 1" threaded rod and a dual ram cylinder -- tho one of the hollow rams would work then has 3 legs about 12" tall for a bridge The tool for wet sleeves is built lighter, and has 3 adjustable legs , and a smaller bridge use a threaded nut on this one Quote

Thank you. take the measurements to a machine shop or an old sleeve and it can very easily be made. i had one made for the 282's years back, was around 100.00 then. 1 Quote
oleman Posted November 17, 2025 Posted November 17, 2025 I made a puller for the wet-sleeve D-179 engine, being a wet sleeve it didn't take much pull to get all of the sleeves out, just an h-frame made from 3/4 X 1.5" barstock with a bar across the bottom and a 3/4" threaded rod for a puller rod. I just ground the bottom to fit and welded it to the threaded rod. Used "stuff from the welding scrap" I borrowed the threaded rod from another puller. Since that time I have found many uses for the h-frame 1 Quote
