That's ballpark. My favorite 12 volt coil is 3.4 ohms. Gives good low voltage starts and excellent point life.

Would be interesting , and a useful resource , to get the Ohm readings from actual old stock IH coils , not the aftermarket junk

I don't have the part numbers but the 3.4 I keep quoting is the actual reading from original cub cadet single cylinder kohler coils. Also identical to coils used on v4 wisconsins. My go to coil for conversions where resistor bypass is not readily available.
