Machining outer remote on 1066 for power beyond.

I have access to a very good machinist. I wish to add power beyond onto my 1066 to operate my front end loader without tying up the use of my remotes for haying equipment. I’ve examined closely the middle remote and the outer and believe my machinist can carefully convert the outer remote to be open on both sides thus suitable for attaching the power beyond block.  I’ve heard of this being done before. What are the drawbacks and challenges of properly machining the outer remote for this purpose? Thanks for your thoughts!

Do not know that it won't work. Seriously doubt it though. Somehow have to block off center spool port from the three return ports. Think it would be hard to find enough iron in there to anchor and seal such a tube. Have not had the opportunity to try it though.

Less than $500 will get you a straight through remote and a plate if you find the right salvage yard. No machine or screwing around, just bolt on and go.

"The right salvage yard..." is the key. MOST salvage yards know what they got, no lowballers. A middle valve will run you $900+ anywhere us mere mortals have access to.

I've never heard of one actually being machined, though. People have proposed drilling for the power beyond ports but there isn't enough "meat" in the casting to hold threads under pressure. Not to mention that doesn't address blocking off the flow from one port to another.

Anything's possible. Enough time with a TIG welder and a mill, and a skilled machinist could replicate the surface of the middle valve. Just not sure its worth the time and effort. A day in the machine shop costs more than $900.

The cheapest way out is to eliminate that outer valve entirely, install the power beyond in its place, and run a 3-4 spool auxiliary valve to make up for the lost remote.
