I am moving things inside for the winter, and picked up the last steering cylinder that I acquired last spring. It is also number 105066, but has the removable hose fittings (earlier models had pipe sleeves welded or silver soldered to the outer cylinder tube), and the outer tube on the cylinder is necked down on the valve end. Is yours like that? If it is, I would guess that the second cylinder would be the parts list required. 375266R1 would be the retainer. 367808R91 the seal. This retainer is also obsolete.....Is yours totally missing, or damaged? Maybe I can get back into the shop in a couple weeks(clean shop to get around) and open up my cylinder to see what that retainer looks like

Just looked in the Case IH parts site to see exactly which item you were needing. Took a while, but found your part number in the earlier cylinder for the 560/660 and was compairing to the later cylinder(removable hose fitting type) and the 600/650 cylinder. One thing that is peculiar is that your cylinder uses lower part numbers than the 600/650. I have been looking, but for possible seals for the 600 and also 400 International. I would think that the company that sold these to IH also would have sold them to other companies also. (but did not find anything quickly) I'll have to look into it again wheather this is the "Ross gear" or the "Munroe". From my computer, it looks like your shaft is pitted and also scored a little, if so, I got new shafts made for less than $100. Maybe we need to look into making a seal kit that would replace the old parts on all three cylinders. Good luck! I do not have the answers YET! P.S. Se you have a 27 Chev, I have several 26 Chev cars.

I don't think so. They have different part numbers up though the 650. Has he tried a TD9? General Gear in Idaho should have some. Check for address on the construction site.

Binder guy, I was out your way yesterday and today.... Well at least in Montana!!!! Went over to fort shaw to get international parts from a Montana farm. Got parts off a wd9 and a super to put on my 600. Got to see a lot of open spaces. Lolo Pass, Missoula, Great Falls. Needless to say I'm pooped at home tonight! Shure is pretty country!

At least the block has the cover on it , so a pump/hydraulic system could be added. The earlier blocks didn't have that.

Thanks Sledgehammer! The blower works, and I cleaned out the stuff on top and found a factory cast iron fire pit???? Just need to put new legs under it. Wife loved the ladle!

Thanks guys for the different info and pictures on forging. I am going to start looking for that forging book. My wife says good luck! (retired teacher) Older books like that are not interesting to the yungins, so are being recycled..... What a shame! I was given a forge a couple months ago, better go pick it up before he forgets. Has similar blower on it, and I think a tong or two. One of those trip hammers would realy come in handy for a blacksmith, especially an older one. Just read your new post sledge.... got to get out looking!

Teach I have a question! On the double simple being quartered. This would give two (let's say power surges) at 90 deg. on the crank, but with steam on the back stroke, that would give the crank 4 evenly spaced power surges per revolution. Am I right? I know that steam has a smoother energy curve than say an internal combustion engine, so, I would guess that this made for a fairly smooth and constant power soarse. The only thing that I have that is steam.

That will be great pictures of the 10 20 pulling the 52r! I am suprised at how good the rubber is on the 10 20. I have never seen a 10 20, so please send some pictures as you get into it! Oh, and the right up on the 52r is exellent! have fun! (spell?)

Welcome to the board! My great uncle had an O-4 for a long time, and it came back around again. My brother bought an O-4 and when I went to look at it, there was still most of the bumper that our great uncle had built for it!! Please do not be shy about pictures! We love them all, even the rusty, greasy, dirty ones!!! HAVE FUN!!

Tony I just got up to date on the 806. That bad head must of been a real downer!!!! And to find out a start up ugh!! Sounds like the project is moving good now. I could shave by using one of those weights for a mirror! WOW!!!!

Troy, Good Luck on your prospect! 14 miles is not bad if you only have to drive it once or twice a week. I would offer to take some of that cow goody off your hands, but the way it is at home now, I would have to have you freeze dry it. And I would have to have it flown on. We are starting to think about changing the address to some place on the coast! When it stopped snowing, it started raining and hasn't quit! I am going to try to catch up with what you have been doing this last year-this week!

Well it's been one year and one day since I posted on this project, figured I'd better get something up! This has been one heck of a year. Long, bad winter, took a lot of time just keeping water for the animals and the driveway plowed out. Mom took a turn for the worse in December, but couldn't get over to Idaho until middle of January going between snow storms. I-84 has been closed more than I have ever seen it, plus I'm getting older and not so daring as I once was. Got to see Mom, but had to come home with cold (again between snow storms. A week and a half latter she passed a way. At least she was out of pain! (bad arthritis) Back to Idaho between snow storms. My brother and I went to help our cousin (who has the contract for digging the graves) find the headstones. Anything under two feet tall had to be probed for. Back again between storms. I did get some done on the 400, but not a lot. I have been working on the injectors, pump, and pop tester. I was doing real good-had just done the last solvent cleaning and blow dry when the fitting came out of the air hose! By the time I got the air valve shut off, there was dust everywhere! SOOOO that is where it is now. Start all over with cleaning. Also, I have not been able to get on here for the last six months due to our internet. I am writing this at our grandkids. (they have fast town internet!) Hopefully I'll get going again on the 400 and get back on the board.
