U-C Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Neuhaus tractor ad from the War years, Johann Neuhaus (January 26 1897 - February 27 1957) farmed a small rent farm in the town of Wauwil Lucerne Switerland, he farmed with a Cletrac tractor which was ideal on the wet ground however not so good traveling down the cement or asfault roads, so out of a chunked model T ford he made his first doodle bug tractor. Which let him start a small tractor making business in that town, later he moved to Beinwil Switzerland were he partnered with someone in 1931 still making doodle bugs from old Fords later his business partner left so he was on his own again with the employees in 1934 around this time his tractors started to have his own designed frames sheet metal and final reductions still using ford cars though. He partnered with a few others and they named it Neuhas Tractor Company, but the partnership wasn't ideal so Johann left the company soon after, his former Business partners started their own company using his tractor designs and renaming them. Johann would start over for the final time making tractors but he would also add the manufacturing of Farm wagons and trailers, improving his tractors by also adding Diesel engines as a option. For the Gasoline a Ford engine was used and transmission was a ford made but with a second transmission designed by Neuhaus gave the tractor a few more gears. His Son Hans (1925) took over the company in the 1950s continuing the wagon and trailer business, the last tractors made and sold under Neuhaus name was in 1957, around 100 were made. Hans Neuhaus continued until the 1980s when he retired and sold the company. The Neuhaus Company still one way or another still in the trailer and wagon business either as selling or putting stuff on em sadly ended operations in the 2010s. 1 Quote
