886 oil leak from the fuel injection pump

I have an 886 that started leaking engine oil from a port that is above the screwed in plug on the side of the fuel injection pump. It looks like it should have some type of press in plug. Anyone have an idea what should be in that hole. I can’t find any parts breakdown for the pump on Case’s web sight

I'm thinking ambac and a locating pin that had a spot of epoxy to hold it in. Can't remember anymore right now.

It has a d360 engine with an AMBAC 100 pump

Can't remember what that pin locates or whether it is dynamic or not. Really thought Glenn or Ed would have chimed in by now. I have a pump but it is a half mile walk and 15 foot ladder climb to find it. Afraid my old legs aren't going to feel like it by the time I quit today.

Sounds like the tappet guide pin fell out. Not real common, but it does happen on occasion. Many times it happens because the the tappet bushing fails and drops. I've had them also fall out and customer finds it, and reinstalls it, and still going. The epoxy patch is to seal it off, the peening is what holds it in. It is not available by itself.

As soon as Ed said tappet a picture jumped to mind. A special hardened pin. About the only hope of finding it is if it fell into the axle support bracket.

The one I mentioned above was doing some stationary pto work, and it was right on the ground. Luckily they were checking on it periodically, otherwise it could have ran itself out of oil.
