What is the best way to compress the clutch spring on the driveshaft for reassembly

Alan,  I don’t care for the “rattle line”.  My words.  I’m sure when new they were ok but after years the few that I’ve had were noisier than any other model.    I did make a tool to put in the drill press with a slot in it to compress the spring.  Kinda crude but it worked!

I've seen a guy use woodworking clamps to compress the spring before. A little crude, but I guess it'd work in a pinch
