Fred B Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 I have a 284 diesel, normally runs good, I would like to check the air filter but I cannot figure out how to get into it. The right hand side has a cup held on with wire clips. I've taken that off and there was some dirt in it but I think the filter has never been serviced (blown out). It could be it's just stuck in there but I don't know how it comes out. Should I try and pry it out with a screw driver. Anybody got any ideas? Thanks in advance. Fred
Alan Dinan Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Should be a butterfly/wing headed bolt in the center of the end that you expose when you remove the cap. If it has never been removed, then the seal is stuck to the canister and you will have to pry or twist it to get the seal to break loose. Jeff Foreman sells new filters (That Emblem Guy) on here.
Fred B Posted July 11, 2024 Author Posted July 11, 2024 No, wing nut behind cup, or anywhere that I can see. this is the little 28 HP cute little thing, I use it around the place, it will do some work. I think the cup may hold the filter in? I'll probably waite for my son in the morning, mabey he will have an idea, thanks.
Alan Dinan Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 That outside cover comes off and there’s a dust separator cap inside of that. It should come off with the cover. Then the filter will have a bolt holding it in
Eason Posted July 13, 2024 Posted July 13, 2024 Jeff Foreman has the new air filters for the 274 and 284 diesel tractors.
