Well, since John brought this back to the top, might as well add the latest acquisition. 5-16's 2000 Monoframe Allis. Not exactly sure what I'm even going to do with it yet, not like I really needed another 5 bottom plow.... But, as they say, the price was right! Needs landsides really bad. Other wear parts aren't too bad. Coulter adjustment about the worst I've ever witnessed! Easy fix though. Steer tire will need replaced because why would you ever buy an implement that had a good tire(s) on it?

What does the term “monoframe” refer to?

Like, versus a flex frame that would be in two halves?

John, your question got me curious, so I dug out the bible. 'MONOFRAME' refers to the one piece of 'Large dimension Structural Steel' that the frame is made out of. Basically what I thought except for the structural steel part.The 720 (and later) IH plows are made in a similar fashion.

Plows, much like corn-pickers, were basically obsolete by the time they really had them perfected.

Unloaded the MONOFRAME yesterday. Put a tire off the cyclo on for now. The one that came on it wouldn't hold air. Big surprise! Hooked it to the 856 and moved it to it's staging area. Depending on how the summer unfolds, might try to take this one plowing this fall. Until I get a replacement pullbar for the 546 it's not going anywhere. A new set of landsides, a little pre-shine, a 'new' furrow tire, and some grease, should be ready to go.

So many plow projects if I can get caught up on the rest of the crap around here!

Got the springs painted on this 546 plow in preparation for bringing it to the Eastern States Hart-Parr to White Tractor and Implement Show in July.

Been making some progress on the MONOFRAME. Pretty sure the bottoms are 387's. That's good, parts available. All others, PITA! I have some Yetter coulters around here that may find their way on this thing. Spring loaded, would be a nice little upgrade. Will work on it some more this morning before heading to the Allis Connection show.

FWIW; Making good progress on the Allis 78 hay-rake too. Oh, and the F-H blade!

Wife’s getting on better after cancer surgery. Might get a chance to go to St.Marys for the competition Ohio state plowing match .🙏

Daughter driving in from Kansas to be with us for a week before they have to go back to school . Jean said maybe you can go ! 
 

I got the transmission filter changed in the GMC finished yesterday. Got to repack the wheel bearings in the trailer.

I wont be able to practice much using John Garrd advice and tips but going to try .

2000 update; I have acquired more wear parts. Still working out what to do about the landsides. They need replaced and are available but rather spendy. I have lots of 1/2"X4" hot rolled steel. They may get welded up. Still need one coulter arm, a buddy has one so not a lot of pressure there. 

Picked up 2 new landsides for the Allis 73 model plows I have, they will go on this week. MIAPA show this weekend....

Got the shares off going to try and do some of the shares repair John Garrd suggested in his video. 
I got one done I thought and mounted . I can’t tell if it going to work yet ,looks like I still have a sled runner . Ugh

This week I was getting one of the Allis 73's ready for MIAPA show at Marshalltown. 2 new landsides, wish I had bought another.... Moved the pullbar 4" also, going to spin the rears out and see how that goes. Of course, had to have a bolt twist off, then broke a tap in the hole. What should have been a half hour job took, well, quite awhile! It's raining now, hopefully it's dry enough by Sunday to plow.

Did some practice plowing Friday for the Ohio antique plowing match class . Today the antique class got canceled because of rain . I can’t make to reschedule  make up.
What blessing to plow a field with non compacted soil. I praise the owner of the farm . I don’t know what they are doing but kudos to them .

Here is my only 40 x265 foot photos for your edification and amusement. 
Did some adjustments to coulters ,moved them out 3/8 approximately  inch to eliminate the furrow wall collapse. Readjusted the jointers, Maybe try it again next year . 
sorry photos not in order .look for furrow collapse. Important to me not to have sidewall collapse in seed bed prep.

One thing I’m going to do is cut the shanks upper ends of the coulters so I can get a wrench on them to adjust  them in or out.. Try to precisely move them by  loosen the clamps bolts  and doing short hammer jambs on the lower offset of coulter is for the birds. Wasted to much time ,a knock on AC plows did do it on model 4 economy plows .

Didn’t get to compete this year. Got rained out. Pretty disappointing. But maybe next year. Had fun with old friend at the practice match. We adjusted coulter and jointers and made improvements as each pass the plow got better and better . My friend said your starting to attract attention , we laughed about that, but got busy with more conversation and improved the plow results ,repeated,great fun having my friend working with me.

I’m impressed with the way that the soft mig .025  wire works on these repair to blacksmith shares works for small plots. My shares were really cutting into the ground . I anxiously want to experiment more with improvements to the shares , I have not had a chance to look at the wear or sled runner if any from the little  plots yet .

My suggestion is do not scrap the black smith shares cause someone can refurbished them . I would like to get another set to use on my Allis Chalmers 12 to have waiting to go . Can't find them .

Suggest ,Just watch John Gaard’s Video on you tube .like I did how to fix them up. Be surprised what you can do with them .

left about a 1/32 to sharp serrated blunt edge to fracture soil worked well . 
I see areas to improve  . Appears I still have 1/4 sled runner on bottom of the share to eliminate .
Like to see how how fast it will cut after I drop the plow when that is fixed .

We plowed at Marshalltown yesterday. Tractor and plow worked good, conditions a bit moist.

antique equipment show called Antique Acres.
