Cummins 8.3 parts

Need an overhaul kit and cam and lifters for a 8.3 cummins in our 2188.  Is there any aftermarket stuff that is good or go to cummins and pay the piper?

Caseih tech on here hopefully chimes in. But in Cummins truck applications I have used pai kits and they seem to last.Don’t know if they make a 8.3 ag kit.

I have used Cummins, CaseIH, Interstate, McBee and Maxi-Force. Never used a PAI kit, but think they would be just as good as any other. 

25 years ago I would have used a Cummins kit, prices have gotten out of hand thru Cummins

During my time at CaseIH dealer we used CaseIH kits, which was a mix of Cummins and Reliance. 

Now back at my shop we use Interstate McBee kits on any we do. 

The Maxi-force kit I used was supplied by the customer, he was going to rebuild it, had machine work done and bought his kit from machine shop. When he got ready to assemble engine he got cold feet and wanted us to build it for him. 

I would bet that today a Cummins kit isn't Cummins parts, just Cummins boxes and 3 prices.

I think the interstate mcbee has really stepped up quality the last ten years. I put 3 of them in L10s a long time ago. I would imagine the better  aftermarket kits get parts from the same suppliers.

Are you getting an interstate McBee kit direct or a dealer?    The people we have contacted are having a hard time with engine numbers being it was sold through case IH
