Egg head,not pop corn needed

As there is an oil thread near every month and discussion of "new" trucks /cars having "oil" issues with current PC standards

Could an egg head dumb this report down to what/how the "New" affects/benefits us here?

like brake fluids we have to keep 5-6 items on the shelf,and consult a chart every 6 mo.

I'm starting to think we can't see the oil for the additives. 

Manufacturer oil recommendations are not always in the consumers best interests.

And there are definitely differences in oils.  Interesting comment from a long time implement dealer/mechanic.  He had made some home made pullers using thread rod.  "If you make one of these" he said "you must use gear oil on the threads; engine oil will not prevent thread failure."

i have always specified to use gear oil on puller threads, and always have also. put engine oil in your truck diff and see how far u go till its howling.

Here is an interesting twist for you.  Use hydraulic oil for your tractor dif and see how long it goes before it is howling??

 all depends on what you  are doing, as i have already done that in a 560 loader tractor for winter use feeding cows , used straight aw32 vis oil.  these tractors use hytran hyd. oil . will last a lot longer than say in a loaded truck. them diff's get hot to the touch on long trip.
