    It sounds like you have the Frick style feed system. My father ran a Frick mill for 40 years. The clipper splice will work, the only issue is when you feed into the log you will feel the splice "bump" in the feed lever every time it goes over the drive pulley. I don't think you would regret the extra cost for endless belts, they make for a much smoother "feel" on the feed lever when your sawing

    a few years back I was rebuilding a UD350 power plant for a Bucyrus Erie 15b crane and the guys on here were a tremendous help. What model sawmill are you restoring?
