TheOCfarm Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Hi All please be gentle first time tractor owner. I just bought a 444 and it’s got a bad hydraulic leak beneath the seat around the footwell. It leaks the same whether under pressure or not. It’s not coming from the hoses or anything. Looks like there’s a bolt on plate with some valves. I know this is super vague just seeing if anyone had has this before Quote
snoshoe Posted July 27 Posted July 27 Super vague is right. A picture would be the easiest way to show us just where. Sounds like a plug on the hitch. Probably just an oring gave up. Without knowing which plug. We have no idea what is behind it. Quote

Hey man sorry, its comming from the flow diverter valve by the looks of it. the one between your feet. its got an open and close valve and a fast and slow valve i believe Quote

The fast and slow is a flow divider that controls draft response speed. The open close is an isolator that shuts off the hitch cylinder so position lever can be used for another function. I really do not know what you are calling a diverter. As it happens pictures are non functional on here now. If you have them you should be able to post a link we can follow. Quote
HydroTek Posted August 25 Posted August 25 @snoshoe Power steering maybe ? that flow divider is farther forward Yeah , wouldn't call the hitch valve "between your feet" Lol OP gonna need todo a better job of describing where the leak is coming from Photo Bucket and get us a pic of the leak -- post the link to the pic here Quote

Idk if you look down while sitting on the tractor it’s between your feet/legs. I think it’s leaking from the gasket behind the “hitch valve” Quote

I think that hydraulic unit has to come off to get that out but I am wrong enough that you should wait for someone else to tell you. Quote
HydroTek Posted August 26 Posted August 26 Yes , the lift unit needs to come off the tractor One would have to ask why that gasket would be leaking -- there is no pressure on it -- just holds oil in the housing Would be best to clean the housing off and determine exactly where the leak in sourcing from Quote
