Dads M Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 After shutting off for 3-4 hours overflow hole has fuel on it. New IH needle and seat replacing new Steiner needle and seat. Float set at 1 3/8. I have checked for float rubbing can't find any. Do I try a new float next? Any other suggestions? Quote
Binderoid Posted May 13, 2021 Posted May 13, 2021 I like to rig up a device that attaches to the bowl drain into a piece of clear tubing, so you can see the actual level of the gas in the bowl. Before you put it back together you will want to scratch a line on the outside of the bowl that represents the lower edge of the main nozzle. I observe the level on a hot engine and set the float at whatever it takes to keep the gas below this line. You will also be able to observe if the needle is leaking with the engine off, if the gas rises to the point of dribbling out the nozzle. If it’s damp and not dripping it sounds like the level is still a touch too high. Could have one pontoon leaking, causing the discrepancy. Quote
rustred Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 i think that float setting is 1 5/16. never hear of 1 3/8 on them and that puts the float too low. if the float is not heavy no use replacing it. Quote
rustred Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 Just now, rustred said: i think that float setting is 1 5/16. never hear of 1 3/8 on them and that puts the float too low. if the float is not heavy no use replacing it. also turn the top half of carb upside down and "eye " up the float if it is sitting level its GOOD. many carbs have been set like this and no problems.
