yes those were the good old days alright in my town i don't remember the UGG since it was closed in 1998 and the pool was closed in i think 2001 or 2 and i can sort of remember a few trips there with dad i've been allover the interenet tonight and found a good handful of pictures of my home town elevators and hopefully this summer i can make scaled down replicas of them

man i love lookin at old grain elevators i'm not sure why but i got a knack for it the ones in my town were destroyed when i was little but the town not there anymore not far from my farm the elevator is still standin privetly owned of course but i love lookin at it it's the only true piece of farmin history that everyone know and can recognized i like lookin at this ol site http://www.grainelevators.ca/

2 hrs away from you were gettin pretty close to puttin in a crop were about i'm gonna say 2 weeks away but some people say 3 weeks one guy from alberta says he might be able to start in a few feilds by the end of well now it would be this week

well we have a 7500KG road ban on right now to but with the weather we got today if it keeps up it will be off pretty quick

were warming up to i drove out into the feilds with the quad today and theres about a 1/2 inch of dry dirt then theres well mud but it shouldn't be to long then were in the feilds again finaly got the air seeder out to day so i'm gettin more and more excited by the day lol

it all started for my dad in 1968 when Grandpa bought a new IH 75 swather and the dealer didn't have a set up mechanic so the dealer made an agreement you set it up and i'll knock abit off your bill so ya ok my grandpa and dad who was about 10-11 at the time set up swathers and farm equipment then it turned into a summer job (washing tractors and setting them up for both grandpa and dad till dad could drive the 35kms to work then dad went to college after high school and then went on to be a certified IH and Steiger Tech and then became Service Tech then he worked at the dealer right up till the merger. but looking back dad almost has had his hands on atleast every 5x88 series and quite afew 86 series and many other we got to an auction or drive the dealer lot and he right way say "oh i rebuilt the motor in that one or OH i put a new clutch in that one" and is just full of stories about getting calls to do work and the crew he worked with i've been around for 18 yrs and i still hear new stories everytime. only 1 of the mechanics dad hired when it was still IH is still working at the CaseIH dealer today i'd like to see if he has a picture of the dealership i've never seen it since it was demolished after the merger but a freind owns a quanset they did mechanic work in and dad doesn't have one

well i think the southern part of saskatchewan is gonna have trouble this spring around here in West Central sask were gonna have enough trouble but we have fairly good run off on all of our land so we'll be fine but some people are gonna still be in trouble

That was a little too much excitement having your truck stuck and on fire, unable to drive away from the fire. Lucky you had the roundup to spray although I remember how expensive it used to be. Something in the $30 per litre range? Monsanto finally figured out they would sell a lot more if they lowered the price. Ray, interesting comparison shots and I'd agree, no planting in March. Make that April for us. I think we will be lucky to get out in the field in May. Its staying cold here, very little melting at all and deep snow everywhere. I took this picture of my air seeder a couple of weeks ago before the last blizzard. Looks like it will be a day or so before I hitch onto it. And just to meet the required level of IH tractor content here I will include this shot of my Uncle's Farmall M taken back in the early sixties. Hitched up to the stoneboat ready to haul manure. hopefully we'll get seeding about the 11th of May i'm hoping my air seeder ain't covered since the wings are up but near the south of our yard theres snow taller than i am and i'm about 5'2 but in the feilds you can see the stubble so it's gone down a bit but comin up again with this snow but my mom said in the late 60's early 70's (before i was born) they'd have snow that would dang near cover the house and the quanset is facing north-south on that homestead (my uncle farms it now) and the snow would pack hard against it and all my aunts and uncle and my mom would get the sleds and spend the afternoon sliding down the hill

when we were looking we ended up taking what ever we could could first which happend to be a 345 V8 the seller told us it ran good when it was pulled out so we took it but a 392 would have been better but hey if some people can still move grain with a 304 we can move with a 345 yet, we have a newer IH truck as well with a 404 gas that was the city of swift current truck at one time and it can haul big loads the only thing is it needs an internal rebuild for more power (starting to lose it ) and stop the back fireing

my uncle bought the loadstar off the floor in the middle of winter drove it home and put it in the shed till spring and it's been on the farm everyyear and it will die on the farm we are close to about 37xxx miles lucky to put about 250-300kms a year hauling spray water from the well to sprayer i haven't notice much difference between the motors but before the motor blew we would load that sucker right full of grain and go through the coulee with it no problem are mufflers are rusting around the outlet piece of pipe not sure but hey it's 37 yrs old and i love that ol truck

we have a 1974 IH loadstar it's a champ we blew the motor out of it due to my brother overloading it and shift all wrong and it was hard to find a 345 motor and we got one out of a scout but it won't haul the loads it used to since the scout motor is lighter used as a water truck now for spraying but when i take over i'll put the back pieces back in and use it for hauling grain again Loadstar we have the exhact same muffer set up on our but the mufflers are rusted out

Where abouts did you pick that 1486 up at in SK?? it looks like my dads old one those must be older IH weights the ones i got in the shed look way different

Roger, interesting shots of the trucks in the gravel pit. I see it was cold as one truck appears to have a winter front on it. The steam shovel is putting a great cloud of steam out. I was in my own gravel pit today with the little Massey Super 90 loading my R160 taking advantage of our above normal temperatures for November. Heres another old post card from Sask. showing a scene of the cars parked at the sports day in Kerrobert, Sask. good to see pictures from my home town on here lol
