454 gas tractor starter

Trying to locate a starter for a 454 gas tractor. The case parts book shows 2 part numbers for the starter.

one is 104189A1 and the other is 104191A1.  The 104189A1 shows it has 9 teeth.  When I try to cross the 104191A1 number

some sites say it has 9 teeth and others say 11 teeth. NAPA shows both starters crossing to the same parts number

91-01-3689 which is a 9 tooth starter. Any one know what number of teeth is correct? I didn't thing a 11 tooth would fit where  

a 9 tooth is supposed to be or visa-versa

104189A1 should have 9 teeth 
that starter fit most of the gas models of that tractor type - so 454 - 574 

You dont have a rebuild shop around ?

I guess I am really dumb. When I look a cross for the 104189a1 starter it shows a nine tooth CCW starter.

The starter off the tractor is a 1108394 delco. When I look that up it shows 11 tooth clockwise starter.

How can the starters have different rotations and work on the tractor.

I don't have a rebuild shop close anymore. I looked at my old paper parts book and it shows the 1108394 starter

IH part number 403299R91 as being the part for gas tractor.

CCW starter is correct 

starters are clocked looking at the drive end 

Pull your starter off (3 bolts) and count the teeth

It has 11 teeth. And that's what I thought about rotation. But still confused about the info I find on the starters.

I did not see in the book (messicks) about gas or diesel -- that tractor could have been either way

so the parts books we have readily available are not always complete
even the case-ih site is incomplete in the descriptions -- we have kids that have never seen tractors editing the books and diagrams
-- the old paper dealer books would be accurate -- but not many of those around any longer because of computers 
-- and too many of the computerized information is just cut-n-paste from someone else's work 

you have the answer by counting the teeth -- get an 11 tooth starter CCW rotation
-- all of the gasser starters were the "same" for those models that had the gas engine option
