Do any of the experts here know what the change in the transmission was between the original "large " Powershift and the post unit 9500 "small" Powershift?

No expert, but the main external difference is that the older unit is longer such that the drive shaft from the torque converter is very short. Valves are on the top. Newer 'short' unit has valves on left side. Not aware of any interchangeable parts. Have not seen any comments about one being better than the other, only that the short one is easier to remove due to more working clearance.
