Strap a timing light on it where you can see the flash and tie the trigger down. If it stops flashing consistently as it starts acting up you have an ignition problem. An inline spark tester will work but it's harder to see. If the spark stays consistent as it dies you have a fuel problem. This eliminates the guessing.
While I have been told they were the same as as a 424 I haven't checked the part number. I did buy one of the aftermarket filters for my 424 and it's the same thing.
Don't know about your model but a DB pump is actually two pumps in one. One is low pressure to feed the pump and one is high pressure to feed the injectors. It will run fine after you get it primed but you'll have a problem every time you run out of fuel if the low side is bad.
So you have a hitch and hydraulic system manual? It has all the flow charts.
I have one for the 424 which should be the same. If HydroTek knows which chart you need I could take a pic. There are charts for every position.
Just an observation but I think you need to address the pump fitting first instead of last. It appears to me that if the line is that loose it's pulling in more air than oil. If that's the case the pump isn't going to build the pressure needed.
If you're young and enjoy irritating everyone in a mile radius with your big speakers and amplifier in your vehicle by all means go with a straight pipe. Otherwise put a muffler on it. You'll still hear it and you'll get to enjoy life without hearing aids when you get older.
The hp filter I was referring to is #5 in the diagram. Little tube ultra fine screen about the size of a cigarette only shorter. Plastic(I think) end piece with O ring near the inside end.
Is the high pressure filter not used on all of them? Looks like 1 &2 in the diagram is just a plug and then it shows what I have in my 424.
I would look closely in the hole to be sure the filter isn't inside as it just slips into the end.
Isn't there a fuse in the dash panel?
My thoughts are that brush jerked the wire instead of just pulling it off. Somewhere in that patched up wiring there is a short to ground that blew the fuse.
