That's very helpful, Binderdan. I think it's a 12v system because they had a standard automotive charger on the battery. Is the 3964 essentially the same as the 3964B?

Neighbour and I are looking at an old 3964(B?) excavator and the guy showing it to us said it needed a new fuel pump. He gave us the old one and said we could get one for $30-40 but the part numbers are scuffed and unreadable. Seems like a rinky-dink pump for such a big machine. Anybody know what we should be looking for?
