Tonyinca
Well Fellas, Some tough news , Rob found areas on truck where paint & primer as I understand it were not bounding together causing paint lifting. Rather then going any further he stripped truck down and is redoing most of it. He is sick & I am sick and PPG is saying not our fault. He has three vehicles he has done with same combo doing the same thing , Different colors but same combos of sealer, paint, primer. Moral of story even the experienced professionals have set backs on their projects. Few pic of today Tony
65806
Boy that's a tough deal. That truck looked beautiful. PPG have anything else to say besides "ain't our fault"? I mean they sell you the expensive paint they should know what is compatible
Sledgehammer
Sorry for your setback but glad your paint guy is stand up enough to fix it right by the sounds of things.

He does lot of work with them and He's had lot of his stuff at Semi so, he may have some leverage. Tony
Kevingweq
Sorry to hear that Tony, I have heard and seen the results of silicone based products contaminating a paint shop . I am just suggesting this as a possibility , A young employee at my friends body shop was using Armor-all or a similar product at lunchtime ,Trying to keep his new car looking good , He was using it outside in parking lot ,, unfortunately he was right close to the fresh air intake for the shop , the spray got into the shop HVAC system and the compressed air system , They could not get paint to stay on the cars !!! They ended up moving operations and a big battle with insurance ,
ThePunisher
Sorry to hear about that. Hope PPG comes good for the rework - and if it is something the shop did, I hope they come good for it.
Tonyinca
Thanks Punisher, Rob , is reputable and very responsible . He is taking full responsibility for redoing it but he is saying this new water based crap is not working like they said. It just breaks my heart because I saw all the work into it.. Tonyinca
3/2/17 Update on Binder. Rob , Has repainted truck , thinks by end of next week will be back to where he was before the Re-paint . When I arrived there yesterday several paint Reps. were leaving his office and they all looked happy. I heard no M.F.ing each other. Rob said he got it all taken care of and he already has two of the three vehicles repainted. He said that it was a sealer batch problem. Few pic's from yesterday. If you go back on pictures I have posted of painting progress over the months, He painted items at different stages , Fenders & inside fender wells, front grill panel I believe were first. They were okay , Doors , outside of cab, and outside of bed had problems. The inside of cab & inside of bed were painted early on also. Not sure on hood. It was all that was last done with new batch of sealer. He showed me the areas and if he had not told me I would of not noticed . He pointed them out to me lol. He said , You don't pay me & put up with my timeline so I can let something out the door that's not right. Painting is my reputation & my name is attached to the paint job. So here is hoping for the best. Tony

Tonyinca
Went to see Binder yesterday 3/8/17 They had two guys buffing out new paint. Rob is feeling optimistic . During this delay, Fuel tank is finished ready to install, Both bumpers are re-chromed ready for install. Wheels were ordered 1/17/17 ,so I am expecting them end of March. After seeing work on air vents in dash , I decided that big blank space in middle needed a radio. So , going with a pioneer , Blue tooth compatible, AM-FM & XM ready. He says Antenna will be in glove box, I did not want a big aftermarket whip on the fender. Speakers will be hidden on both sides of cab. Only thing left to decide is on rear view mirrors. I don't want My old farmer mirrors , Been looking for a set of nice I.H. auto style mirrors. Rob says he would only go with one being that's what was required at time. Plus I have the inside one ? Then the upholstery , He uses three different guys in town and they are all slammed. I am leaning towards one, However he is so slow ,its painful. But what the **** I waited 2 years & 5 months what's another few months Tony
65806
My Plymouth roadrunner only has drivers side door mirror and I really hate not having the passenger door mirror. I plan on finding one and putting it on someday. Just my 2 cents worth. Im glad it coming back together for you. Can't wait to see it finished. SMOKER 1
Tony - Since you are putting in a modern radio and alloy wheels, no one will notice a right side mirror. If you're like me, we've come to be so dependent on the right side mirror, I couldn't do without it. jerry

bitty
You definitely want a right side mirror. If one of those Calli girls walk beside you on the sidewalk you have more angles of enjoyment Seriously though it will look much better with both on
BOBSIH856
Or put cameras in the fenders and get a rear view mirror with the display in it. Truck looks sharp tony!

My wife tells me she is not too worried , She does not think a 1966 International P.U. is a BABE MAG. So , I added that perhaps this old fart driving that 66 is not going to help it either. So, its incumbent upon Her to give me & truck the Sensual sexy look . I'll get worried if I see bags of Victoria secrets stuff around. Tonyinca
3/17/17 St .Paddy's day but no green here. The binder back on track . Front & rear bumpers on , Radio installed, fuel tank on, about ready to start. Ordered two rear view mirrors today, waiting on wheels. Thinking of installing a chrome ring around tail lights used on a travellal? We think we have upholstery lined up . They say 1-2 months The hood emblem will be painted I.H. colors along with the" international " word across grill. I forgot to get a pic of old original air cleaner re-vamped to paper filter. 65806
The chrome rings might be a nice touch around those tail lights. It really turning out beautiful. Giving me inspiration to start on my '59 B120 original red on red. Even had red rims from factory. Same box as yours.
