Progress report on my 66 I.H. pick-up restoration

Recommended Posts

This is my choice so far .

Thinking 20x10 in rear and 18x8 in front .

Going to try to have them put I.H. logo on center cap.

Instead of black color inset thinking Bronze because interior will be buckskin.

The wheels that you have picked are very sharp, much better than the ones in the picture that Sledgehammer sent.

they have that modern look...

I would vote for all chrome mags,   jmho.

Like the old Crager 5 spoke mags,  they would have that old muscle car era  look.

if not going with a more factory look.  Some white wheels with IH chrome caps.

Just my 2cents.

Mark

The wheels on the truck I posted are just something to look at. I like a little more chrome also to accent what you have Tony. Some older style mags in a larger size would look very good. Even some oversized steel wheels with white walls and caps would look cool.

I am glad for the input . Thanks Guys.

I agree more chrome rather then paint because truck basically has no bling so need wheels to set it off. They make the sample I posted with all chrome ,no paint.

I have been leaning to a deep reverse steel wheel like NEW GUY, posted but deeper with a I.H. logo cap with black wall or lettered tire.

Guys at shop think it needs new school wheels & tires.  (??? I am not sure) however, they do this everyday but admit its the first International.

Body guys say," its a conversation piece, people come in and try to figure out what it is, then get curious about it."

I am looking for a two piece wheel,  So far I like the" Schott Cover loc. wheel."  We need a two piece wheel to be able to maximize width to placement in fender well.  They will custom build to fit and I am wanting the I.H. logo on them . Rob thinks He can get them to do it.

I think the wheels with the grey centers are just too plain for your truck.

the ones you had picked are better, more chrome with less black in centers.

Agree , No paint ,all chrome.

in mot cases, old school & new school don't seem to jive in my book.  Although i am fairly young, I like the old school look.  Nothing drives me more nuts than seeing a gorgous muscle car with newer style wheels on it.

How true.  Shoveled a lot of poop out of the barns to pay for those chrome wheels.  Still prefer chrome to the alternative!

i agree with eason, chrome reverse or cragars. i call the 20 inchers stupid wheels. might as well just run like the amish and forget the tire altogether.

looking very nice tony. it will be christmas all over again when

its done.

The good news here Tony is that all of those wheels look awesome: they all suit your Binder but they give it different looks.

Personally I lean towards the steelies and hubcaps. They give an understated look that ties in nicely with your painted rocker covers and colour-coded interior. I particularly love the 'International' script hubcaps that were suggested by Sledgehammer B)

When considering wheels, have you considered what you're doing with the interior? You've mentioned the colour, but is that a retrim of the original bench? Or more modern buckets? I would think steelies and hubcaps tie in well with a bench seat; whilst Modern buckets would pair well with the full chrome wheels.

Any direction you choose will be winner with that sharp body. I reckon I speak for more than myself when I say this is an exciting build to be watching and I'm stoked for you :D
