Not sure what’s up with this motor but I’m telling you it has some extremely bad noise in this engine . As Tony has told you it made it made 1 hour running outside with no load and just a couple minutes on the dyno and scored all six pistons . Just so everyone knows this is some more quality parts from Reliance 🤬🤬This was done at a machine shop locally and been doing stuff for Tony for many years . Well they rebored it out to .030 oversize , 6 more Reliance , still has the noise so they pulled the head a few weeks ago and and took the head to the guy that did his baler motor and as he has told you the man found all the valves leaked because they where not lapped . I’m not sure when these shops supposedly stopped lapping valves 🤔 but it must be a new thing they teach these younger guys today but I can tell you after grinding valves and seats they will work but lapping them in makes a perfect fit and seal . ‘There is something terrible going on in that motor and now I won’t be able to sleep with out knowing what’s up with this motor so I’m hoping Monday morning we can get it pulled out and see what’s going on in there and Tony can take it to the man that did his baler motor /old school guy and have him do it right . Tony is super lucky , there is a local shop here that will make new pistons and sleeves . This shop builds airplane pistons and yep there expensive but you know it will be right when it goes back in this time . Danny Hopefully with custom pistons they are moving into the 21st century with ring technology too. Piston Ring technology has come along way since the 1960's.

MY DAD USE TO SAY BETTER IT THEN ME ! tony I feel your pain be it on a much smaller scale. I have gone rounds with electrical rebuilds with my H project and still trying to eliminate them. It's very frustrating to know enough to identify the problem but not have the equipment or experience to make the proper repair. My original rebuilder went through my 3 brush generator and sent it back with a regulator instead of a cutout relay. That was after explaining in person and on the telephone what I was expecting. Disappointing to say the least. Good luck Tony! I know you'll get to the bottom of the problem one way or another.

Sorry for your frustrations but sometimes we get bogged down but we will figure it out. What is the old saying ?... the only ones that never fail or have problems are the ones that do nothing! lol Best to you, Tony
Diesel Doctor
A 100 years ago I found a 706 gas that had the wrong gasket between the oil filter and block. This engine had the newer aluminum oil filter housing on it but, we think the factory, put the old style cast iron oil filter housing gasket in it. This caused low oil pressure by partially covering the pressure port from the pump. It also caused the cam and oil pump to eat itself. The restriction was before the oil pressure relief valve so the pump was making pressure and had no where to go. Scoring pistons can be a lack of oil. Most gasket kits have both gaskets in it. If the wrong one was installed, this could be your issue. Very easy to check. Hope to BS with you in Grand Island.
