axial_al
To make a long story short I removed the head, pan and pistons on my 1955 400 Farmall.. Cleaned up the top of the crankcase really well and added coolant to the block. Droplets of green formed around the bottom of sleeve #3. Guess I'll pull the block and see if we have a crack or rust hole of some kind. Has anyone had success repairing something like this or should I just go shopping for a block? The tractor is a family heirloom purchased new by my FIL. Really hate to give up on it because is really handy for lots of little jobs. Thanks for any advice. DWV
If the crack doesn't run to the deck or out the bottom of bore a repair sleeve can be installed. Usually block is bored on that hole and a repair sleeve pressed in then the ID matched to fit a regular replacement sleeve. On # 3 make sure crack doesn't extend into the center main web.
