sugarmaker
Folks, So The TD6 may come home in a week or so but the young man borrowing it says it wont pick up any thing now. I assume something is amiss in the hydraulics. A valve or seals or something. This is the ATECO loader with the hydraulic valve body in the back behind the fuel tank. Any ideas where I should start on diagnosing the non lift issue? Matt did adjust the main clutch which he said the machine now acts way better and can actually dig into a pile and spin the tracks. Glad he is youing and spry, because I would not have been able to stand on my head and get down in the cockpit. This has very high sides and no easy access to the clutch area. I want to move some dirt with it at my daughters but the lifting issue is not going to cut it. I have pictures of the tag/ name on the valve body somewhere. But I am NOT a hydraulic guy at all! Will need your help if I tear into it. Regards, Chris
sugarmaker
Folks, Forgot to take pictures, but Matt brought the TD6 out and dropped it at my daughters. I am going to see if it will move some dirt? Not sure what the hydraulis need. But may need your help. It is a HYDRECO control valve. Where should I start to look for issues? Any suggestions would be appreciated!:) I will try and see how it does lifting dirt, and report. Regards, Chris
sugarmaker
Folks, Some shots of the TD6. Owen was at the controls. We didnt try to move any dirt. Regards, Chris
sugarmaker
Folks, Any guidance on the lack of good hydraulics and trouble shooting would help. Neighbor mentioned checking hydraulic filter, but I dont see any. Anyone have a clue if there might be a filter in the system somewhere? These were made before we had spin on/off filters I believe. And I dont see one of those, but maybe there is some type of screen filter in the tank or line?? Regards, Chris
Rawleigh99
Can you check the pressure between the pump and the valve?
sugarmaker
Rawleigh, There is no guage in the system. So I would need to plumb one in. Regards, Chris
louie figone
Chris, if it does have a filter it would be on the suction side (to the pump). All the ones I have seen (factory IH) are located in the hydraulic tank. The relief valve in the valve body could also create the problem you are having. After all that checks out it's time to look at your pump.

Regards, Chris Probably a good place to start looking at things. But from most other hydraulics on old crawlers 1000 to 1200 psi was tops when new. From my experience anything over 700 psi is probably OK.
sugarmaker
Lou, Ray, Thanks for the tips on the old dozer hydraulic system. So if there is a filter in the tank how do you get to it? I am not near the machine right now and dont have the manual here. Not sure this is the std tank? I was thinking the pressure would be around the 1000 psi mark. Its on the list of things to do but down there a little ways right now. My brain is on this old shed we are going to try to throw up this year. Hope things are good in RED land! louie figone
Chris, T6International has a contact for ATECO, they may be able to tell you if there is a filter in the hydraulic system. Here are pictures from the IH parts book, IH offered two different hydraulic systems for the later tractors (62 series). These pictures are just for reference to show how the strainers are mounted into the IH system. Your ATECO may or may not have a strainer. The IH system is a stainless metal mesh strainer. sugarmaker
Folks, I did see the TD6 a couple days ago. It was resting comfortable at my daughters house. I have been busy and have not been able to play with any tractors since mid July. The wife has been making me work on a new addition to the property. Yes a toy box for all my big toys. First this scared the heck out of me from a cost stand point. This new shed continues to keep sucking up dollars and time. I hired a father and son crew to help me build the shed. I have most of the skills but not the years of building experience. I also provided many hours of sweat equity up to this point too. I would say the percent completion would be at about 65%. Lots of details to work on and like most of my projects it may never get totally done. Here are some shots: some design work: materials: Holes and poles: electrical service redirected: some improvements in structure: me doing some triming: Jib crane base for post: jib crane install: trusses: closing it up: shingles arrive last Tuesday Ridge vent/ cap should be done today: Electric and water rough install today Regards, Chris

sugarmaker
Folks, Back to reality. The TD6 had a hydraulic line leak in a hose or connection. Have to look at that and get it operational again. Othert than that it seems to be starting and functioning. Hope things are good out there! Poorboy
I'm a newbie. Your shop looks really nice. I'm still trying to figure it out. ??? Ps. I really like your td6!! Jesse
sugarmaker
Jesse, Thanks! The TD6 may never get a lot of attention. I just own one and have had fun learning about it. OK tried a .jpeg file and it came right in, so I guess that's the key. Imgur has that option for loading pictures. Here we were doing final drainage around the shop. At least I hope its final! Also a shot of the inside today: Regards, Chris
sugarmaker
Folks, Ok I just glanced at the views for this thread: 62.5k views ??? Really? Folks must be using it to fall asleep at night or something ?? I think I may go look at the old TD6 and try to cipher out this leaky hydraulic line issue. I dread that because I am sure it will not be a easy, or fun project! We need some picture of it anyway. And I need to bring my Allis D17 home too. Hope things are good in Red land! Rawleigh99
Chris: When you pull the hose , plumb in a tee to check the pressure with. You can leave it in place and cap the gauge hole if you don't leave the gauge in it.
