td9inidaho
You are breaching the limits if you get rain, down here in Idaho, our structured load limits are set to 40 lbs per square foot, or higher if in the high altitudes, my experience is we get much wetter snow than up north. We have a cabin that we will be visiting up towards central this next week. Has been the norm that the snow there is verry dry, and not much more than 4 to 5 feet deep. Looking forward to some negative digit snow machining ?
AKwelder
We used to run 40 psf and now run 50 psf live load. Normal snow here is ultra dry and fluffy, but not this year. So a good rain storm could make some very interesting changes. Asked my inlaw if he wanted the motor home shoveled off, nope, it suppose to take it and if it don't it is insured. Ok then Like you I am hoping to head to the mountains and ride, but in at least double that much snow. happy riding and send pictures
BOBSIH856
Looks like the North Slope will keep pumping oil? I just read about a 1.2 billion barrel find.

Yeah, that's a doozy. Let's see where it ends up but it sure looks like they will be laying a bit of feeder line and putting that one online, at least before the next presidential election
AKwelder
Got a few pictures from two weeks ago, avalanche, no one hurt but dang one of the crew snapped a few pictures while northbound after they had been digging out avalanche caught 4 trucks and closed the pass for most of a week, no one hurt. Funny part is it was not in the normal avalanche paths. And was way down at the bottom of the hill
TomH
Glad no one was hurt, still looks like it could ruin your day though!

The state is nearly bankrupt and begging for more production (and willing to give them big time tax incentives), the fields are very slow now so workers are available, and the current political climate make the permits much easier (it's in a big river delta area) so I would guess they will bring it online but leave a lot of room for expansion to full capacity. Once it's up and running they will be hard pressed to shut them down,

Had a good old fashioned blizzard. Was warm for two weeks before then that morning rained an inch. Then thundered lightning snowed and rained then 60 mph winds for 40 hrs. Good thing someone picked that guy up. This was just in a small area in the north central part of state. About a 100 mile by 100 mile area but they closed all major hiways and at least a few hundred people and vehicles stranded for 2 days till anyone could get them. It was so bad the last day emergency services were not even going out. They said you could not see past your car hood. People that did make it home drove with door open looking for pavement markings. It was temps around 0 Fahrenheit but 60 mph sustained wind is cold.the picture was taken on us hwy 83 between Minot and Bismarck nd if I remember the article in the paper. Is it just a roof collapse or is it missing a wall? The snow doesn't look all that deep; did it rain on it?
New Englander
This happened a few years ago at Washington Dulles airport (IAD). Millions of dollars in destroyed business jets. Seems some one under estimated the snow load possible in Virginia!
