Pretty sure it's a bit north of normal.

That was 2 weeks ago here in North Dakota. Had a good old fashioned blizzard.  Was warm for two weeks before then that morning rained an inch. Then thundered lightning snowed and rained then 60 mph winds for 40 hrs. Good thing someone picked that guy up. This was just in a small area in the  north central part of state. About a 100 mile by 100 mile area but they closed all major hiways and at least a few hundred people and vehicles stranded for 2 days till anyone could get them. It was so bad the last day emergency services were not even going out. They said you could not see past your car hood. People that did make it home drove with door open looking for pavement markings. It was temps around 0 Fahrenheit but 60 mph sustained wind is cold.the picture was taken on us hwy 83 between Minot and Bismarck nd if I remember the article in the paper.

i think that's his 656, his Deere is further in

What am I looking at? Is it just a roof collapse or is it missing a wall? The snow doesn't look all that deep; did it rain on it?

This happened a few years ago at Washington Dulles airport (IAD). Millions of dollars in destroyed business jets. Seems some one under estimated the snow load possible in Virginia!

He had a three sided barn he built for hay and equipment.. Behind the pine to the right is a single pole still standing, if I had to guess I would say one of the main beams failed.  We only have a little over 25# snow load, which is half of local code.  But the most we have had in 10 years or more.  I think he went cheap and it bit him

Yikes, that puts the cost of a barn collapse in perspective

anyone hurt?

Happened around 8 AM and there were some people inside but no one hurt. There were actually several hangars involved and lots of crushed planes, even a Fedex single engine Caravan. It took over six months to extract them all. The planes that were standing on their tails had to be blocked up in that position while the structure was cut off them then lowered with cranes. Some planes were undamaged but the hangars had to be shored up and partially removed to get them out. Taxiing by you could see lots of temporary steel attached to the outside.  It happened about 6 or 7 years ago and the litigation is probably still going on.

Wow, Monday it was trying to get above zero in the morning, then yesterday it dang near hit 60, so I serviced the 460. Ended up changing the oil, the hydraulic hoses on the fast hitch, giving it a good greasing (and putting in some new zerks) and then doing the air cleaner.  Generally going over the tractor, I will be ordering ignition parts and probably change her over to electronic. I also was having starting issues so off came the starter solenoid and the contacts got cleaned and polished.  It's like a new tractor!?

with the very warm temps and the blade she was really shaving the soft top off the hard pack so I did that and moved on, I will grab some photos today.

Wednesday it's off to the line for a job, yuck.  But it pays the bills and spring should be here when I get back,

If only we got paid for all the fun stuff we do ehh lol.. Springs sprung here for now I think. Was going to go on one last snowmobile ride but I think the fat lady's sung now. Fields are almost bare and I suspect in the bush is getting bare in alot of spots now too. 4th of april was my last ride last year. Didn't quite make it this year. Was out a week ago today and put 50 miles on. Think my total was around 1100 kms(687 miles) so it wasn't a total loss. Temp was up around 55F here today. Supposed to get warmer towards the middle of  the week.  Had our first rain last night. Wasn't really welcomed though. It'll help push the frost down a bit though I guess.

My wife asks me for my shoelaces and any sharp objects when the subject of how much I rode my sled this year, it was less than 3 miles, at least I am not making payments on the things, shsss

we had 50's here and then it drizzled today, the whole town looks like a mess, it's all slop and muck and dirty, but hurrah it's spring

That's to bad you didn't get a chance to get our for at least one good ride. Oh well. they didn't cost you anything in repairs siting there. Has to be some sort of plus side to it.lol.. Brother just bought a used 800 renegade. Got a good deal on it but it had some previous owner related issues. Guy that owned it before wasn't much of a mechaninc and screwed up a few things. He's got most of the kinks worked out but things he's going to rebuild the motor this summer just for reassurance. It has 7000 kms(4375 miles) on it I think. I didn't ride it but he said he sure likes it for trail riding.

Sounds like your brother got a good sled, what year? And which 800?  The new 850 is out and from what the guys who did ride say it is a brute,

so far, no one has had proof of a good ride, it's been brush, whiteouts, and rock hard. So I sure didn't miss much, and in that kind of snow I always seem to try and scrape the paint off my A-arms with the rocks, which seems to get a wee bit costly

On a side note, how's the logging been? You still wading through muck?

I think it's a 07 if I remember correctly. He'd like to get something fuel injected but said this will do the trick for now.  The shot start is a interesting idea too. I'd like to get something different to ride next year. I've had my Nytro for 5 years now. Debating about picking up a new sidewinder. Have to ride one first though and see if I like it.  I don't like the price tag that's for sure lol.

Managed to get out of the bush about 2 weeks ago finally. Was a good thing too as everything was getting awful wet there.  Our yard now is the big battle. It looks like the mud pit at a redneck country club now ?  Should have a rally and charge admission I guess lol.

That new 850 is quite the sled. Just touch the throttle and it goes lol. Buddy of mine picked one up last fall and he brought it with when we went to Revelstoke, and it had no problem there. Although my 600 etec only got stuck twice and he was stuck about 5 times a day ??

I'd wait a couple years yet to see how they hold up but I think they're going to be a pretty reliable sled. I'm still gonna buy a 800 etec summit though. Can't afford new technology lol

Your very right on waiting.  I had a first year 1000.   I won't do that again.  One of my riding buddies bought a 850 summi and I was hoping to try it, but that didn't work out.

theres is your Chevy Troy.  the DEF up here is a real pain to keep going.  The heaters that are part of the system are not very ready for 20 below and parked out side and in time they get upset and send error codes.

anyway,  the road was kind of thawing and i had to take the truck in and thaw out the wheelsIMG_4006.jpg.fb7d7619cd28a46f81516dd672ecf1a1.jpg

Then we were moving a bit of snow, here is the work site for our spoil pile

and an red tractor on the way home,

Sorry about the poor picture, i was late and almost missed the plane.  i wanted to stop by Cruz Construction Co and take a picture, they have 12 Quad tracked parked in a line in the front of their shop

Home and there is a LOT of snow left, the roads are clean and dry unless there is water running over them, and the snow piles are crusted with all the driveway rocks.  but there is still a foot of snow on most of my roof and more in the shade on the front yard

Sights look a little different here now. Snows pretty much officially gone now. Took this pic last night of five elk strolling around in the field north of us in a pasture

Nephew was out to the mountains last week apparently and spent some time sledding in BC. Would be lots of snow there yet I'm sure.
