Life in Alaska

Recommended Posts

I was at my favorite repair shop this afternoon to get a semi inspected and happened to meet someone from Alaska. I checked on Google maps and it said his town of Palmer, Alaska is a little over 2,700 miles away. He was having trouble with his RV. I think that’s the first person I’ve ever actually met face to face from that state. I had a nice conversation with him.

I was hoping we had avoided it

😉  Come on that was just a nice little foot message. 🤣 Had a 6 on Dec 22, 2003.  About 6 or 7 mile west. But like all good things government,😵 I see they revised  it to 6.5 by now.

Being 60 or 70 miles west of another 6.5 in 1983, my first though in 03 was this must one heck of a quake at ground zero.

Being from western Oregon we have not experienced any quakes more than a couple points. Really just makes me nervous about this old cabin.

Wish i could say better....and was kind of embarrassed? to admit it but on top of other small drama, i had a life long friend drink himself to death. Still trying to cope with things. Thanks for asking. I try to be a tough guy but for some reason it keeps hitting me in the guts.

Im sorry for your loss and thanks for asking. I just stink at this stuff..funny what gets at ya, ya know. When my mom passed(cancer) we knew and had time to prepare and say our last words. I knew my friend, Gary, would end up this way but the prepare part was different.. also the guilt of getting pist at him and pushing him away for almost 10 yrs now is just fn killin me.....i knew i couldnt help him but i was a sh!t friend for doing so....selfish of me. Im really trying not to beat myself up but its hard, i feel like a pile of sh!t.

I'm not going to say anything except rethink your thoughts, you say you pushed him away, thats a two way street, if someone does not want help there is nothing you can do to change their ways unless they want to change, and hanging yourself out to dry because he would'nt/could'nt change is not on you, take it easy on yourself and take care.

Yes to an extent. Since we talked months ago, we've been talking about every 2 weeks. He wants to move back up north... Id like that. I miss turning wrenches with him.

....well, Jake, age is not showing much profit.......but as for the other 'prophet'.....As I have mentioned in the relevant topics   I only knew my Dad for around 17 years......so with ol' Twolines  ...I just like to think he should not ''waste'   his Dad.....

Flew to Prudhoe bay yesterday.  Had a good shot of Mt McKinley (now it’s Denali) from the window for part of the flight

Impressive mountain. I only got a view of it once and from a distance at that as most of our Asia flights were at night. What kind of plane were you riding in?

Was on a small horizon air flight, I think it was an Embraur! Maybe an ERJ 175?

in order to make it from fairbanks to Deadhorse we have to fly south to Anchorage and then north to Deadhorse

makes all kinds of sense
